Having a 60 year old patient die with a legendary history of drug abuse two weeks after brain surgery ruining 7 medical professionals lives is one of the grossest examples of celebratory worship I’m aware of. Pope Francis ought to use his Argentinian deity powers to stop this insanity.
A medical board found they fucked up? A medical board's report given to prosecutors this month concluded that Maradona was in agony for more than 12 hours, did not receive adequate treatment and could still be alive if he had been properly hospitalized. Prosecutors on Wednesday charged neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque and psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov, the two leaders of Maradona's medical team, and five other health professionals with involuntary manslaughter. A doctor, a psychologist, two nurses and a nurse coordinator were the others. The medical panel's report said “the patient’s signs of risk of life were ignored,” adding that Maradona “showed unequivocal signs of a prolonged agony period” of at least 12 hours. The care that Maradona received at the rented house, the report said, “did not fulfill the minimum requirements” for a patient with his medical history, and that he would have survived with “adequate hospitalization.”
To charge seven different healthcare workers for letting the most beloved person in the country’s history die unnecessarily is just bonkers. Like were the nurses who have been charged supposed to overrule the doctors? Everything about this is irrational.
what JonathanCoachman is saying is that it’s just an attempt to punish someone for him dying on their watch
And 2020 was a great year for firing from the hip when it came to assigning blame unfortunate medical events. If the whole thing about him not being cared for in a traditional hospital setting is indeed the case, I would assume that was to keep him from catching Covid. He was definitely not well equipped to win that battle.
Right, but it's not just some random police or DA doing it. It came from a medical review board. If Dr's and nurses fuck up, they should be held accountable. I don't know the details here but I tend to side with the medical review board until something says I shouldn't.
I understand where you’re coming from, but I believe there is a level of corruption in Argentina that should stop you from taking this at face value
And if that's shown to be the case, I'll change my mind. I just find it odd to be upset that a medical review board found Dr's and nurses at fault. They aren't above fucking up and they aren't above being held accountable. Hell just this week a surgeon in Austria amputated a man's wrong leg.
as an aside this is probably the worst good news bad news ever patient: what’s the good news Dr: the operation was a complete success Patient: what’s the bad news
celebs, especially like national icons get enormous mounts of deference and i imagine much like other scenarios it'll come out that himself and his people were resisting all kinds of shit and the medical folks just acquiesced when they shouldn't have
