I picked up the Green Lung when it came out, first press was limited to 100 or something like that. Great record.

New fucked up band name album came out today, which I would have no clue about if it wasn't for Heavy Mental

While he's been on multiple Death albums I'll always associate him with Sadus. So glad they stopped releasing albums.

fretless bass guitar has a distinct sound that bands don't seem to be into now :idk:

i might argue that Individual Thought Patterns is the best collection of metal players ever as well

It's certainly one hell of a line-up. Too bad about it not being Death's best album.

Somehow I'm just now discovering that Underoath's first two albums (Cries of the Past, Acts of Depression) are on Spotify. Back in the day when I first discovered them (around the time they released Changing of the Times), the only way to get those albums legally was buying some used version for a fortune on eBay.

they were heavily influenced by black metal in the early days, iirc

very very different than their later output

check out Undying if you liked that. The Whispered Lies of Angels album is great.

I fucking loved Underoath's first three albums, especially the first two. I know they aren't reviewed as well but I don't give a damn, that shit was great.

Listening to Hour Of Penance early stuff. What is it about this style of death metal that draws in so many simpleton chuds? Pretty disgusted with myself for wasting two hours. There's virtually no difference from one song to the next. What's your fucking contribution to metal, Italy? Fleshgod? Lacuna Coil? Rhapsody? Seriously, you've skated by for so many fucking years and have so little to show for it. You gave us Sadist but that was one great album out of 8 releases. Greece with 1/5 of the population has done more for metal. Get your poop in a group, Italians.

I'm moody tonight. Listening to Horrendous likely wont help my situation. Here's a band that I fell in love with on the first demo. First full length came and it was more death metal perfection. Success found them with that album and suddenly they want to mix in Death, Opeth and Mastodon. They're now just a clusterfuck of nothing going nowhere song after song. I've never heard so many useless riffs. I know I'm not the only one to feel this way because the review averages tell me I'm right (% - 98/86/88/78/74). You're going the wrong way, dipshits. I'm cool if a band wants to grow and branch out, just don't suck when you transition.

Listening to some old 90's Vital Remains tonight, Forever Underground. Some may remember about 20 years ago they got Glen Benton (Deicide) to do vocals. Well, before Glen they had this kid Tim on vocals for one album. I say kid because he was like 18 at the time. This annoying little shit and I used to post on the same forum, he did a great job of pissing everyone off. Anyway, I hated this cunt and because of that I've never been able to enjoy Dawn Of The Apocalypse (average review score of 90% on MA). For whatever reason I felt victorious when the band canned his ass shortly after the recording of the album, they apparently couldn't put up with him either. Tim stopped posting on the forum when he was fired so I never got to rake his corpse over the coals about the firing. Sorry for the useless story.

I have the desire to go through Old Man's Child discography. I have the old ones but likely haven't listened to them since the 90's. I stopped paying attention to them around 2000 and I know they have multiple releases after that. I remember them being a bit more groove based back metal. Any standout albums I should be focused on?

i think Born of the Flickering and In Defiance of Existence are their famous ones?

i am shallow and can't get over Galder's corpse paint appearance, so haven't given them a fair shake either.

the new Dodsrit album is really good. it’s melodic black metal with crust / d-beat punk influences.

they’re also very anti-nazi, which is a plus

Just started listening to Porcupine Tree a few days ago, mostly In Absentia and Deadwing. Really enjoy it. Got the recommendation from a Facebook fan page for a much smaller group, It Bites, who are one of my favorite bands rn. Blackest Eyes, Shallow, and Open Car are my favorites of theirs so far. What else would any of you recommend?
