Emailed my kids teachers asking if they do any tutoring over the summer or if they can recommend anyone. There are certain areas my kids (2nd grade & 6th grade, heading into 3rd & 7th in August) struggle with and I think it would do them well to get some weekly tutoring sessions in. Any of you have any luck with doing this kind of thing? Or just do it yourself? I feel like I'm not that great at it and feel like they would learn more from someone else than dad.

My wife and I have different skill sets so she normally does math and I do everything else. I know she’s really struggled to keep up with him (going into 9th now) through the years because math is taught so differently now.

A lot of people though have gotten HS upperclassmen or college kids to help out on this though during the summer around here as another option.

Lil man is back to full remote with three days left before 8th grade promotion. One of his now former friends lit a school bathroom on fire as a prank and flooded the place.

Arson charges and expulsion are most definitely happening. Dumb ass adds this to a recent encounter of trespassing in a construction site to jump his dirt bike off the mounds of black dirt.

Apparently when the cops called his parents vacationing in Mexico the dad said to leave him in jail until they get home in 48 hours. Cops said can’t happen so he with his grandparents

Yeah. My wife wasn’t happy. Not sure if she said anything. We had a really bad experience with the teacher all year. I tried to be understanding as it was her first year teaching. Especially during Covid but you could tell after Christmas that she just basically gave in to her frustration.

So my little man is all go. If he is awake, he is doing something. I have given up on sweet cuddling time with him at this point unless/until he enters a different stage but he has not been one to cuddle for about 7 months now (he just turned 11 months).

That is why last night was awesome. He is a fantastic sleeper but last night he woke up twice crying frantically. I got to hold him twice to my chest with his head on my shoulder and pat him back to sleep. Of all the crazy things I get to see and watch him do, that ranked up at or near the top of my joy with him.

idk what to do about this but my wife is a clean freak. She's always cleaning. My 8 month old daughter now refuses to play with anything other than a baby wipe/towel so that she can clean the house as well.

Teaching kids it's fun to clean/do chores isn't a bad thing iyam. There's been a few articles written recently how even very little kids will do better to help out when they're older if they're given small tasks.

Is your 8 month old available to babysit my wife with the hope that my wife can learn a trick or two? I will pay well above minimum wage. Pretty good for an 8 month old.

It's pretty wild how fast kids learn thing. My son is about 10.5 months. He's been cruising for a few months now and about a week ago started getting brave enough to try to go places without holding on.

Fast forward a week and he's walking like 7-10 feet before he falls and is constantly trying to pull himself up and take off. Looks like the his next task is trying to stand up on his own. He's on his knees and has one leg up, tries to get up, then just falls over. I have to think him being in daycare and seeing other big kids walking around has to help.

I’m convinced that daycare has played a large part in my kids growth and development. She sits and watches kids do stuff for hours until she thinks she can give it a try.

I'm hoping potty training works the same. I'm pretty sure my mom said I did it sooner than my older brother b/c I didn't want to wear diapers like a baby.

Wife is similar. I think she sprays and wipes down the kitchen counters 6 times a day. She's due in a week with #2 and still tries cleaning constantly. Keep telling her to stop cause every day ends in "I'm so sore, tired, etc." well I told you to stop doing shit around the house. Last night she fully unloaded and loaded the dishwasher. I've given up. This baby needs to get here. I know I know I should relish just having 1 but we're this close and pregnancy ain't easy on my wife. Ready for her to get back to normal.

My wife is a psychopath. I'm a super clean person, too, or at least I thought I was. Sheesh. And we bought a house and moved while she was pregnant. Don't do that.

Congrats on #2, and good luck to you, mom and #1.

Thanks brah. And yeah we had an offer to move when she was pregnant with #1. Thankfully my boss was cool with me waiting on baby and then figuring shit out. We visited/started the move process when he was 4 months and things were pretty smooth. Her frozen breastmilk surviving the move was her biggest stressor

First ER visit the other night around midnight. 26 weeks, and she wasn't feeling Mr. Baby as much as she normally does.

He's fine (Obviously) and I'm now the proud owner of a doppler.

As of Sunday we have a crawler and he is getting all around the room now. It’s kind of awkward because he hasn’t been able to ween off oxygen yet so he can only go as far as the tube allows (until he is strong enough to drag it).

My daughter, soon to be 6, told me today she wants to take guitar lessons. There are some music shops in my town I will hit up. Also have an old friend that use to teach. I will hit him up.

Anyone here dealt with music lessons and getting your child started? I have only played air guitar.

She also has a small drum kit I have been trying to get her to use while watching YouTube.

I did guitar lessons for a little bit when I was around 8 or so at the local guitar/music shop. it was a night or two a week and was just kids/beginners.

I have seen the local school district/county here offering music type classes for the summer, so you might check something like that out too.

Unofficial poll, how many nights a week do you bathe you’re kids?

Jr is 4, and we’re doing every other night now since he spends most of the time inside with the sitter/us. Once we move and he’s outside with the neighborhood kids this summer we’ll have to ramp it up I would expect.

Every night. Doesn’t fully wash every night but it’s part of his nightly routine. Think we tried skipping it awhile back once cause it was late but he demanded it. He plays by himself 95% of the time then I just wash quick and out.

We do about 2 baths per week with 3 and 6 year old. I’m not sure on the 11 month old because I don’t have to do it but it was 1-2 times per week with the other 2 at that age. Our kids had sensitive skin when young and more frequent baths made their skin dry so we’ve been to the low side ever since. And I’m a believer in this: https://www.thehealthy.com/family/childrens-health/bathe-kids-less-often/

This doesn’t really say anything other than young kids/babies aren’t nasty oily stinky adults so yeah they don’t have to bathe like one, not really breaking news.

Yeah, but many parents seem to bathe them like they are so it’s somehow both contrarian and yet obvious.

My kids don’t actually clean themselves in the shower/bath. It’s just 30 minutes for them to play and get as much water on the bathroom floor as possible.

My 7 and 4 year old don't do baths. Strictly showers and they are in and out in 5 minutes or less, each. We do them every night unless we don't go anywhere or don't go outside to get dirty. I find baths to be a huge waste and also disgusting. You sit in your own filth.
