It’s not about tactics or players with him. He treats his bosses like mortal enemies. Again, with current state of the squad and winning today you’d have to imagine it lasts a bit longer, so maybe December?
Obviously Chelsea go through managers like crazy. I wouldn’t expect Tuchel to complete whatever contract he signs. But Chelsea pay managers a lot of money and there isn’t a stigma for getting fired by Chelsea, so you’d just land whoever is one of the top 3 guys available. It isn’t a bad system apparently. Watford try it, but they don’t have the margin of error you guys have.
The personalities that Chelsea have from the decision makers to the players always makes for an interesting dynamic BUT that being said Tuchel feels different with this group at least. Players in general have bought in and enjoy playing for him as of now. Again, we will see 6 months from now.
Chelsea has a bunch of young guys and new players, so it makes sense. Side bar: I don’t understand why Crystal Palace would want Frank Lampard to rebuild their squad on the fly, and why Lampard wouldn’t want that job. He isn’t going to get a better opportunity to showcase his ability as a manger than that. Just keeping them up would be seen as good enough first year with Eze out.
Sung to the cadence of wonder wall. Seriously though congrats to both teams. I don’t hate either of you, I just wish giroud got a run today.
Kante is a unique player imo. He’s not a true 6. He’s a destroyer. Just absolutely disrupts everywhere. Anyone. Messi. Benzema. De Bruyne.
Just insane that he was playing in the French third tier like 10 years ago, has won nearly everything you can possibly win since then, and is somehow still getting better despite that.
I hated seeing him go off like that. The fact that he left my club, ended up at a major domestic rival and I still want him to have a successful career speaks volumes about him. I still think city win it soon. There is something weird about teams not winning it in their first final. It’s like the football gods need to see progress before they let you win the holy grail of club football.
I’m biased but I feel like that cup final was probably more enjoyable for neutrals than most recent finals.
First half was fabulous, should have been around 2-1 Chelsea . 2nd half was Kante show. Taking Foden off the LW was coaching malpractice. Not anti-Sterling but when you have Foden being magical there and move everyone around. Just idiotic
Twellman talked about it in the post game show. He broke the same 2 bones. Said he could sit out the group stage and play in the knockouts without a mask. Also said trying to play in the group stage in a mask would be a huge mistake from his experience.
If you are on the old cbs all access plan ($6/mo ?) don't change your plan or you could lose live access to CBS and possibly Europa League. I skimmed, but the language is vague. I'm pretty sure other leagues (Concacaf and Argentina) are at risk too. https://help.paramountplus.com/s/article/PD-What-s-the-new-low-cost-plan The primary difference between what the service is calling its “essential” plan and the more expensive commercial-free plan — besides the addition of ads — is some missing content. The $10 commercial-free plan includes both local and national news coverage with CBSN and CBS live, whereas the new essential plan only includes national news with CBSN. There’s more sports coverage on the commercial-free plan as well, and premium users also get support for offline downloads.
FTR, I didn’t mind the away goals rule under normal circumstances (i.e., full stadiums). Away goals still counting double in extra time was patently absurd, though.
I don’t think it’s the end of the world or anything but I’m sad to see them go. Makes for good intrigue and I’m fearful that we’ll see way too many penalty shootouts now.
It’s fine to counter balance the extra half hour of home advantage. The stats show the home team largely advanced in these situations anyway.
Just saw this now. Check this thread. It’s overall in European competitions rather than simply the Champions League, though.
Don’t have a thread for the new season yet but congrats to the likes of Lincoln Red Imps and Sherrif FC for making it to the second qualifying round
came in here for this. They have replays available but not available live, afaik. Are you able to see any of today's matchups for streaming?
dammit Alashkert beat Connah's Quay How long is extra time in these things? match went to the 133rd minute
Puskas Akademia-Inter Turku is on Paramount+ at 2 PM ET if you really need a fix. Tied 1-1 on aggregate. This is a Europa Conference qualifier.
Such a bad look for Tottenham to be in there in year 1. Spurs vs any of these, which are the teams most likely to advance out of early rounds. Thankfully, they drop in a bunch of EL teams to prevent a bunch of matches against opponents of this level.
