Can’t recall if asked this, but should I Sweeten’s Cove for $200? I remember this thread speaking on it a while back.
Samples showed up NYGator I’m actually busy tomorrow night but can do any other day this week. Let me know what we decide.
yeah, the 12 year was bottled by Willett but likely Heaven Hill distillate. See: https://www.blackwellswines.com/products/rare-perfection-12-year-old-bourbon
NYGator out of curiosity have you opened any of the samples and smelled them, curious everyone’s thoughts on the nose.
I just opened up the 121.8 proof and I have a 2019 Cask Strength AE at 122.4 proof and the nose is not too dissimilar. I just did a bit of reading and apparently they recommend what proof each selection can be but you can override their recommendation and do it at whatever proof you want. Not sure my store owner would go for that, but something to keep in mind and probably more expensive. I generally don't love finished bourbons but I do enjoy the port barrel AE as well as some of the Belle Meades. Sipping the 2019 right now and it's very good, but again probably has as much to do with being Cask strength. No age statement either on this one. I asked but did not get a reply on the samples. One other thing I read about the samples is that each barrel may have been finished in once, twice, or three time used port barrel to vary the finish on them and make them more unique.
If we form a collective opinion perhaps I can sell it to the owner if they still do this, but here is what they say in their press... https://www.gobourbon.com/first-look-angels-envy-private-selection-single-barrel/
From the article, this sounds promising “What we have provided to our customers so far is… we’ll basically do whatever you want. So if they want cask strength, we’ll do that. We’ll work with our customers for what’s best for them and what’s the best profile for the whiskey as well.”
Yes, maybe I just tell him we will take all the bottles, like we originally intended. He is probably thinking it will be harder for him to get rid of the expensive bottles. We will figure something out.
Over two hundred bottles. Half of that if we’re splitting it with a store is still a lot of bottles, money, and transactions.
Ye have little faith. 100 bottles at about $100 each is roughly 10k. I think we’ll have no trouble moving that, especially if we require a minimum purchase of 1 case or 1/2 a case of six bottles. If we do another barrel and I’m involved in selecting it, I’ll be in for 4-5 cases.
I don’t think we’ll need the minimum requirement tbh, maybe I’m wrong but I think the demand will be there. Especially if it’s posted in its own thread outside of this one.
Yes, can break up the purchases even larger like a case or two and ship to those regionally who could then divide it further
We are waiting on g8r to receive his package. Assuming he does in time we can shoot for tonight. If not tomorrow. I can setup a Zoom or Google Meet for us.
The OF SiB Rye dropped today. Already on secondary. One went for 250 I saw and another guy ISO is offering a JDBPR 1:1
Has anyone tried the new Bulleit single barrel? Our bourbon club got one that I was able to snag a few bottles of for pickup next weekend. I noticed the Alabama ABC had it too.
