We bathe our kid every night mostly for the routine, but I don't think it's weird if little kids only get bathed a few times a week until they are older and sweat a lot more.

Not really a dad question, more of a husband question but here it goes.

My wife has forgotten how to cook chicken after having a kid. I don't know what the hell happened but she has stopped using seasoning of any kind when cooking chicken. She will just throw it in the air fryer, add 4 minutes to the chicken setting because all of a sudden she's worried about undercooking chicken, then serve it with some kind of sauce on top.

Ex, last nights meal was bone dry chicken breast with tomato sauce and cheese on top for a "grilled chicken parm" Not even that could save this meal. It was brutal. Really don't know how to address this with her without coming off like the worlds biggest asshole.

Before people rip my head off, I cook for the family plenty and everything else the wife cooks is still very good. It's just a mental block when it comes to chicken and of course, for the past two weeks, that's all she wants to cook.

My humble suggestion as the sole food preparer in my household, is to A) Shut the fuck up and be glad she cooks. B) Be the elected chicken cooker from now on.

Sous vide chicken breast to 150* for about 90 minutes and then incorporate that into whatever you are cooking. It’s the only way I eat it anymore.

I season and vacuum seal the chicken about 48 hours prior to using it. Most of the time I end up grilling it off for chicken Caesar salads, sliced chicken with sides, etc. My wife also uses the chicken in whatever recipes she’s making.

I appreciate the suggestion, but I don't need new ways to cook chicken. I need my wife to go back to cooking chicken the way she did before she got pregnant.

Literally everything else she cooks uses multiple different seasonings to create delicious food, but when the chicken comes out, not even a dash of salt.

Recommend marinating it to try change it up. Marinade > Seasoning on chicken anyways

    good call. I'll try that.

I do agree that marinating chicken is great. She used to do that all the time as well. Really don't know what's gotten into her lately.

Hadn't posted in here in a while but we dropped my daughter at summer camp last Sunday. Before this week I'm pretty sure there was never a day I didn't talk to / facetime her. It's pretty nerve-racking for me, and I know my wife is absolutely terrified. Luckily they post pictures online every day so we can see a few pics of her having fun but this is tough..... and they grow up so fast.

Forgot to put - she also went the week of her birthday. She wanted to go the same week as her friend and easily chose to skip bday with mom and dad to be at camp. She turned 7.

My wife refuses to cook chicken because the raw meat grossed her out. Also the one time she did cook it she put the meat in a cold pan then put on the range so sorry I have no ideas CF3234

Craziness. I always wondered how people from the central US viewed going to the beach. Is it a once every few years week long trip. I would hate that. From where I live you can make a long weekend into a beach trip.

Live in Ohio. 10 month old and closest it Myrtle (lol) and it's 8+ hours away. It's the closest. Wife and I aren't beach people at all so said maybe in a few years. So we'll probably do it only once or twice just to do it

It’s in the middle for most of my family so this is the compromise. My kids actually travel really well so it’s not a big deal...although the “are we there yet?” has started this trip.

Played catch with my dad and my son today on the beach. My dad is 10 years into Parkinson’s/dementia and can barely stand on his own, but he was Johnny Unitas (his favorite player) for about 30 minutes earlier today.

Definitely a sentimental moment for old jbr.

    Little bragging here.

Daughter (lower grade school) did a track camp and fucking wasted everyone regardless of gender in her age group in the shorter sprinting events (looked like a 40 and 60) and raced up a year in the 100 and beat all the girls and all but 2 boys. She's also tall as shit and not at all gangly. Great white hope up in here.

Those of you who travel with infants, do you prefer to bring your car seat with you or pick one up in the Rental car?

We are flying to a lake in Northern California and I want to make sure I am planning for everything we need.

I've done both one time. The rental car seats were very baseline but worked fine. That trip was fairly short, like a long weekend. Kid was ~7 months old so pretty much just slept in the car.

We brought the car seat on a second trip but that was mostly because my wife gets a ton of free checked bags so we loaded up. That was for about a week and included a fair amount more of driving.

I think every airline (not sure of the budget airlines) does car seats and strollers for free. They fall under child safety items. We've at least never been charged for them.

I am leaning towards bringing ours. Its about 4 hours of car rides from the airport to where we are going and its a week long trip. The car seat will only be used really going up to the lake and back, but I am thinking its worth it. I just ordered a car seat cover so we can check it at the airport and hopefully it doesn't get beat to shit.

We are thinking of bringing his playpen as well as a spot for him to sleep in when we get there as I am sure the cabin won't have anything close to a crib.
