This is almost so simple I’m having trouble understanding why you don’t grasp it. Our system takes all of a states votes and gives them to a candidate. If you live in a state where your vote goes into a total that doesn’t matter, say, for instance, a Democrat voting in let’s say Indiana, what is the point in voting when my vote means absolute nothing? Biden won by 7 million votes and had to eke out a win because rules designed to reward slave owners are still in tact. That brings me to the second issue. Watching a party both beg for your votes and assume you will give them your votes then stand idly by while a couple of them do nothing while your voting rights are stripped away because you dared to vote can lead to disenfranchisement. People who needed a Constitutional Amendment just to be allowed to vote are watching that trampled on, but sure, keep voting in a system that doesn’t matter for people who won’t fight for you. I’d be interested in understanding why you think it’s so important to vote, why are these rights being taken away and why aren’t the people we vote for fighting to allow us that right. It’s really hypocritical to tell someone they should vote while saying nothing about the people on both sides that are working so hard in taking that away.
Ya know, I think I’ve had just about enough of Black folks crying about how the political system is fucked up and they aren’t gonna vote. If you aren’t gonna vote then honestly - fuck you. It is by all means your right to sit on the sidelines but genuinely - fuck you. I get it that the system is fucked up and I get that it’s this way almost entirely as a function of our nation’s white supremacist founding and institutions, but I’m all the way over “I’m Black and I voted but everything isn’t changing how I want it so I’m not gonna vote.” Spouting this bullshit is self-defeating and, in fact, repeating many of the same Russian social media propaganda campaign talking points in support of Trump. Y’all sound stupid. Know your fucking history. My mother marched for our right to vote. My grandfather nearly died for it. People had dogs turned on them. They were harassed by police. Nearly 300 Black families in Memphis were evicted from their homes and forced into a tent city for two years for the crime of registering to vote. So yeah our institutions are fucked up. And yeah an old white piece of shit like Manchin has the power to hold back progress. How fucking bad would it be if Black people hadn’t come out in Georgia and we had these Jim Crow state voting laws being passed in Congress? Harm reduction isn’t progress but it sure as fuck isn’t going back either. So honestly from one Black person to another - fuck you and fuck every other one of y’all quitters spitting on the legacy and lives of our parents and grandparents because this shit is hard. No shit it’s hard. Always has been. Glad my people didn’t quit like y’all when it was hard for them. Least I can do is vote and use my time, talent and treasure to try to make change.
Isn't it also hypocritical to be upset at the restrictive voting laws but also saying you'll pass on the chance to vote? For the record, I'm against the new voting laws and I'm in favor of everyone voting. I get being upset. I get being disheartened seeing the same shit over and over. I get not donating money. I get not donating your time. But I don't get not voting. I'm not going to pretend to know what it's like to be in your shoes so I'm not judging, I just can't wrap my head around choosing to just not vote at all.
If the fact that black people had to march, get beaten and murdered for the right to vote and decades later we are doing it again while watching the people who are supposed to support us tell us to get fuck doesn't bother you, that is your right. My parents and grandparents did the exact same fighting and this shit ass country did the exact same thing it is doing now. The only spitting being done is watching these people who "have our backs" sit idly by and allow it happen again. We just don't agree on where this country is. I hope you keep that optimism on where things can go, but I have seen enough to know this country simply didn't care about black rights when they were denying the votes during Jim Crow and they care even less now. Keep supporting these assholes. Thats your right. I'm not quitting. I will still vote locally where my vote can matter, but fuck this federal system of white people telling us we matter every 2-4 years then moth balling us until it happens again. Have a great time time with that.
this is all so dumb because pretty much everyone itt is a cuck and will reluctantly vote for whatever loser the dems run in 2024. but its totally understandable why people are venting and want to check out. the national party doesnt care so why the fuck should me and the rest of the boys at the dick sucking factory. save your scolding
I get checking out on voting. Especially right now I'm fighting the urge to check out. I have somewhat just to protect my mental health.... Buuuutttt I'd still rather be governed by Dems than Rs and it's not even particularly close at all. This brand of Rs is really fucking bad.
So your argument is basically, be upset, be disheartened, don't donate your time or money, but still support them.
I don't think there's really anything to be gained by not voting for Dems. I don't think you're teaching them any lesson by doing it
i do enjoy the guy who has lectured people for years about how they're just team dem no matter what now telling people to just support them no matter what
been listening to some old trillbillies episode and even in a lost red state like kentucky it was funny that they still bent the knee for old uncle joe we are all soyboi cucks
I hate voting for people who aren't going to do 1/20th of what I want done but I mean come on, I'm not into a republican running shit. I'm a piss pig I know
I have never once tried to bring people along with me. If you feel like your vote matters then fight like Hell. Almost my entire life my vote has been ceremonial. I always said I vote so I can bitch about how much the government sucks and not feel guilty. I rallied the shit out of people in Georgia in the past election, so I was actually a true believer. Things change. I'm just done wasting energy on a pointless endeavor for a ceremonial vote. If you live in a swing state, then fight like Hell. If you have a Congressperson that might vote for something that helps you even once, call them. I honestly was making a throwaway comment to voice my frustration. I did as much as I felt I could to help, and the response was the country making it harder to vote while Joe Bitch Ass Manchin says he sees nothing wrong with limiting people's ability to vote, and we all know who those people are.
Just vote. Don't care for who. Support who you think is best for you. I get that none of them may be great but one is clearly better than the other.
The system is broken as hell no doubt. McConnell, a guy I can't even vote for or against, held and still holds enormous power. I'm just saying we still all have to live here so might as well go with the less bad option if you can
I was you for the last election. Anything is better than Trump, so I voted. My Senator sucks, my Congressperson sucks and neither is going anywhere. There just comes a certain point where not being the other guy doesn't hold my attention. I'm going to end up being a complete hypocrite when/if they finally get through to Manchin/Sinema, but at this point, I can't support a party that looks at what is going on with regards to voting rights and thinks that is ok.
You're doing exactly what Republicans want. That's who you'd be supporting. But hey, do what works for you.
Because the option you voted for isn't as good as we had all hoped you should definitely do the thing that allows the significantly worse option to gain power.
dbl just found out we have something called the house of representatives in like september 2019 and now he's gonna vote scold hell yes
Things can get worse and they can get worse for a lot of people if the democrats can't hang onto some lever of power. I guess if you're truly not voting and uninterested in what's going on then I guess I'm wondering why we're having this conversation in this thread
I’m not voting for the German Social Democratic Party, if the National Socialist German Workers Party wins maybe that will wake the left up.
Rs love big govt when it gives trillion $$ tax breaks to the wealthy and punishes immigrants. Otherwise no.
Wooo boy his twitter is super cringy. If you had no interest in the job and were miserable then maybe don't run.
