What do I have to know about the air quality, exercising outside, etc etc Precautions for me and my dog
Denver is like #1 in he country for doing shit outside. Soooo many running/biking trails, and then lots of people who ignore both and run/cycle in the street cuz assholes. Air quality can get pretty shit in the summer cuz dust/fires, and give yourself time to adjust to altitude, but over all it’s great.
Last summer was trash because of the fires. Expecting more of the same going forward. Just wear sunscreen Rest of the year is goddam ideal
actually if you look at the science Denver’s air quality is pretty awful and one of the worst metro areas in the us
Yes as someone who grew up here, I remember learning about it in some climate classes. A ton was done in the 80s to mitigate it but it’s still pretty awful.
I used to live in Knoxville, who always had really awful air quality. Hard to find metro areas with 'good' air quality these days. We live in a climate change and industrial hellscape folkss
Not sure where you are in Wisconsin but looking at some air quality website and it’s much worse in Milwaukee than Denver ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Don’t worry so much pal. You’ll know about potential wide life before you start the hike. You can get prepared then. Not like you are gonna across any off trail (besides camping).
It is fine. Inside scoop, sweet cow, Liks, and Smith + Cannon are better (to name a few). Never been to Bonnie Brae
Sweet cow and Bonnie are my favorites from that list, solid balance or flavor and textures on their staples and the adventurous flavors are pretty accessible to people that aren’t that flavor adventurous. Fairly priced too.
To be fair I don’t think I’ve ever had ice cream I didn’t like so I’m not the right guy to be critiquing
I think Little Man and the place at Denver Central Market are the only places I've had ice cream here. Denver Central Market had a banging butter pecan.
People who think roads only exist for cars are assholes, especially considering that for as many trails as there are, there’s still a ton of the city that isn’t on one.
I was referring specifically to the MAMILs who peloton in groups, blocking the entire road, on roads directly next to a bike trail. Or anyone who rides ina peloton. Or is a MAMIL
This is a weird position. Cyclists are fine, especially in Denver. Thinking of getting an e-bike myself
Oh so you’re just making up something to complain about. I’ve lived and biked in Denver for a couple of years now and I’ve never seen cyclists on the road when they had a readily accessible trail to ride on. Shit, there aren’t even more than a handful of trails in the city that actually parallel roads for a meaningful distance for it to even be possible. It doesn’t even make sense from a cyclist’s point of view that they’d choose to put themselves in danger by sharing the road with people who think they’re assholes just for being there, if they had the option of being on an actual trail. I’ve certainly never ridden on Speer instead of getting on Cherry Creek Trail. And also doesn’t make sense from the standpoint that trails here tend to bypass intersections, requiring fewer stops than the road, and also tend to follow water which is just a lot more pleasant to ride by than cars.
My biggest complaint is motorcyclists who drive through rush hour like they're driving down the highway through rural Utah. Denver is infested with them.
Im a motorcycle rider and the culture in Denver is awful; I’m all for low-speed filtering but the high speed lane splitting is just stupid and dangerous.
I see a few every day. It's only a matter of time until I see something bad and I do not like that one bit.
Found a place that I'm happy with just north of Sloan's Lake. New apartment complex, talked to the owner plenty of times, pleasant conversations. Had a friend stay there 2 years and she loved it.
