Has this been discussed? He shot the whole thing, lighting, filming, music, etc in a room by himself during covid. And it was really good.
I don’t understand the “he’s mentally unwell,” take, is he really any different than any of us at some point over the last 18 months?
Especially one that became famous as a teenager. His whole life has been a stage. Guy is as talented and as creative as ever, I enjoyed it.
I mean the dude quit doing live comedy for 5 years because he was having severe panic attacks. I don't think that's an everybody experience. That said, I've always thought Bo was a genius and this special did nothing to change that. Welcome to the Internet is fantastic
I felt like that was part of the point. He’s exposing his own severe issues while associating them with what everyone has dealt with the last 18 months. The entire special is about making jokes during horrible situations, coping with loss and demons, or dealing with things that are “normal” in society that cause real problems for lots of people. He was really struggling and the pandemic hammered him right when he thought he might be improving. While the special is obviously really really good, it made me sad. Dude is fighting a lot of stuff, and to your point, so are a lot of people.
I mean white woman’s Instagram is so great but right in the middle is the lines about a daughter missing her mom whos passed away, and it’s probably the best part of the song.
Human engagement is the most critical component to overall wellness. Isolation takes its toll and science has proven it results in spiking all sorts of health risks. “Full agoraphobic Losing focus, cover blown A book on getting better Hand-delivered by a drone Total disassociation Fully out your mind Googling "derealisation" Hating what you find” I agree Bo is a genius. Loved the special. Unfortunately my gut tells me his scope of genius is of the echelon that isn’t long for this world.
Watched it. Thought the lighting and editing were solid. Thought the music production/sound mixing/editing was fantastic. Seemed like quite a bit of work.
Bo is a lot more honest with his mental health and problems than basically any standup I'm aware of. "Can't Handle This" from Make Happy shows that these aren't created by the pandemic. I'm glad to see more content from Bo, he has a set/perspective that is really absent in stand up.
Anyone else catch the subliminal single frame flash ? Spoiler: Spoiler its at the 13:56ish mark in the bottom right hand corner but I don’t know what it means or what it is exactly because I couldn’t isolate it.
I mean I’m not disagreeing that he has struggles, he layers it into every piece of work he’s ever done. I just think he’s probably a lot like everyone of us he just has a much more massive spotlight on him which probably causes him to look more inward than most of us do. I just appreciate his honesty. He’s so good at what he does.
Took my daughter to her dance rehearsal tonight. Had to catch myself singing Bezos II a few times. Pretty much the one dad there and I’m singing about the richest dude on earth probably looking like a fucking lunatic.
