As many had expected, Sunday's pay-per-view exhibition fight, between five division champion Floyd Mayweather and social media star Logan Paul, did big business. At the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, the 44-year-old Mayweather returned to the ring and went the full eight round distance with Paul, 26-years-old and significantly bigger. While still early, industry sources are indicating that Showtime is projecting at least 1 million buys (or slightly more) domestically - which includes cable, satellite, and streaming. The mad dash to purchase the pay-per-view on Sunday night created server issues, which affected some online consumers who were trying to stream the event on Showtime's website and app. The network would later issue a statement, indicating that they will offer refunds to anyone who was unable to access the show. A network source at Showtime confirmed to BoxingScene.com, that Sunday was the biggest single-day of new subscription signups since the launch of Showtime's streaming service in 2015. The numbers are not surprising to industry experts, when factoring in Mayweather's name value and Paul's tremendous reach of over 56 million followers across his numerous social media platforms.
what do you mean “do boxing “ ? I took lessons for most of my childhood to learn self defense but I never boxed in tournaments or anything . I was decent enough to be able to handle myself but I’d never have been really good . I did for a a bit when I was about 13 have dreams of turning pro but was nothing more than a pipe dream.
I trained for a bit right out of college. I moved to Tuscaloosa for law school, and the only gym there (where Deontay came out of) was way beyond my limits. I never got back into it beyond hitting a heavy bag occasionally.
when I wanted to as I kid I realized I’d get hit in the face and I was way too pretty to let that happen
There was pretty much no one there. My post from Husker thread on Monday: The fight last night was actually a lot of fun. Mostly because I got to hang with a couple of my old friends I don't see very often. There were so many escorts/hot chicks last night as well. Every girl was dressed up like they were going clubbing/no bra's. I put in a vacation day for today, but decided at 8am this morning that I was already bored and too hung over to be productive at home, so why not just go in to work. The Stadium was about 1/4 as full as when there's Dolphins games...which isn't really ever that full. Spoiler: Pic
Thats still a cool expierence. Im not going to lie, I was looking for tickets on stubhub and wanted to sit on the floor. I had found 2 at $1,100 a pop so I was like I don't mind that. But there was going to be an extra $1,000 in fees and I was like NOPE
More for the experience and I could tell my grandkids I saw Floyd fight. They wouldn’t need to know it was that fight

ESPN+ and ESPN, 10:00 pm ET, Shakur Stevenson vs Jeremiah Nakathila, Jose Pedraza vs Julian Rodriguez. I like the co-feature more than the main event, but Shakur’s someone you want to tune in to see, too. The main event is for the interim WBO title at 130, and the winner seems guaranteed to fight the winner of an Oscar Valdez vs Jamel Herring unification fight. If that doesn’t happen, then Herring would probably be ordered to fight Stevenson, or who knows? This stuff is dumb, point is Stevenson is clearly expecting The Big Fight after this one, whatever it is. Nakathila is unproven but that can be dangerous, too. Shakur Stevenson (15-0, 8 KO) vs Jeremiah Nakathila (21-1, 17 KO), junior lightweights, 12 rounds, for interim WBO title Jose Pedraza (28-3, 13 KO) vs Julian Rodriguez (21-0, 14 KO), junior welterweights, 10 rounds
Watching this Ritson/Ponce fight on DAZN and Ritson's corner threw in the towel in the 10th round. The ref initially stops the fight and then lets them continue and throws the towel out of the ring. Never seen a corner throw in the towel and the ref doesn't call the fight. Weird.
I’ve always thought that there was an understanding that if the man’s corner throws the towel, you accept it. Because if you don’t and the boxer gets hurt, his blood is on your hands
June 19: Las Vegas (Watch on ESPN and ESPN+) 10 p.m. ET Title fight: Naoya Inoue vs. Michael Dasmarinas, 12 rounds, for Inoue's IBF and WBA bantamweight titles Michael Dasmarinas +1500 Naoya Inoue -3000 Title fight: Mikaela Mayer vs. Erica Farias, 10 rounds, for Mayer's WBO women's junior lightweight title Adam Lopez vs. Isaac Dogboe, 10 rounds, featherweights Lindolfo Delgado vs. Salvador Brinceno, 8 rounds, junior welterweights Guido Vianello vs. Dante Stone, 4 or 6 rounds, heavyweights Eric Puente vs. TBA, six rounds, lightweights Omar Rosario vs. JJ Mariano, four rounds, junior welterweights June 19: Houston (Showtime) 9 p.m. ET Title fight: Jermall Charlo vs. Juan Macias Montiel, 12 rounds, for Charlo's WBC middleweight title Jermall Charlo -5000 Juan Macias Montiel +2500 Angelo Leo vs. Aaron Alameda, 10 rounds, junior featherweights Isaac Cruz Gonzalez vs. Francisco Vargas, 10 rounds, lightweights June 19: Jalisco, Mexico (PPV) 9 p.m. ET Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. Anderson Silva, 10 rounds, cruiserweights Anderson Silva +470 Julio Cesar Chavez Jr -725 Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. vs. Hector Camacho Jr., 6 rounds, middleweight exhibition Omar Chavez vs. Ramon Alvarez, 10 rounds, middleweights Damian Sosa vs. Abel Mina, 10 rounds, junior middleweights Kevin Torres vs. Jorge Luis Melendez, 8 rounds, junior welterweights Manuel Jaimes vs. Francisco Arturo Ramirez Martinez, 8 rounds, lightweights Mario Alberto Ramirez vs. Pedro Castro, 8 rounds, featherweights Erik Inzunza vs. TBA, 6 rounds, junior lightweights Karen Rubio vs. TBA, 4 rounds, women's junior flyweights June 19: El Paso, Texas (DAZN) 3:30 p.m. ET Jaime Munguia vs. Kamil Szeremeta, 12 rounds, middleweights Jaime Munguia -2775 UTC Kamil Szeremeta +1350 Bektemir Melikuziev vs. Gabriel Rosado, 12 rounds, super middleweights Title fight: Ibeth Zamora vs. Marlen Esparza, 10 rounds, for Zamora's WBC women's flyweight title Blair Cobbs vs. Brad Brad Solomon, 10 rounds, welterweights
Busy day/night of fights. DAZN, 3:30 pm ET, Jaime Munguia vs Kamil Szeremeta. This one’s starting early, in part because having a European B-side means they can max the audience overseas, in part because otherwise this show gets trampled underfoot on a busy Saturday night. Undercard on DAZN will feature Bektemir Melikuziev vs Gabriel Rosado, Ibeth Zamora defending the WBC flyweight title against Marlen Esparza, and Blair Cobbs vs Brad Solomon. Munguia was originally supposed to face Maciej Sulecki, a fight that was postponed from April to this date, and then Sulecki was just replaced outright by Szeremeta when he dropped out of the bout a second time
Showtime, 9:00 pm ET, Jermall Charlo vs Juan Macias Montiel. Charlo defends his WBC middleweight title against Montiel in what is expected to be a mismatch. The undercard might be more eventful. Isaac Cruz, an exciting but flawed lightweight, faces rugged veteran Francisco Vargas, while Angelo Leo and Aaron Alameda meet in what could be a very intriguing matchup at 122
PPV, 9:00 pm ET, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr vs Anderson Silva. The main event here is actually an exhibition between Julio Cesar Chavez Sr and Hector Camacho Jr, but for the vast majority of very online people the draw is Junior against a true, bona fide MMA and UFC legend. Chavez-Silva is a sanctioned fight, not an exhibition. Full, normal boxing rules apply, and they’re set for eight rounds. Omar Chavez will fight one of Canelo’s brothers, too.
ESPN+ and ESPN, 10:00 pm ET, Naoya Inoue vs Michael Dasmarinas. In a recurring theme for the night’s main events, we’ve got a star champ against a guy nobody thinks has a hope in hell of winning. Dasmarinas is another IBF mandatory challenger, and, well — I mean. His nickname is “Hot and Spicy,” which is cool. Mikaela Mayer will defend her 130 lb title here against Erica Farias, too. Farias is a solid vet but Mayer figures to be way too much for her
