Welp, maybe not. 1. Like every weekend is booked up 2. It's $100 for a ticket? I like art but looks like I may pick something else to do
my close friend lives in that neighborhood. next time i am in town i will have to go by it and see it in person
Charlotte market is insane right now. That thing will have multiple offers on the first day of listing and sell above ask.
The entire housing market is absurd. The realtor we used just had a house go $45k over asking before it even publicly went for sale, and she had 119 showings in one weekend for a different one. I can’t imagine trying to buy a house right now.
Hello at the show. I could be joining the ranks of your great city. I had a hornets starter jacket as a kid and go through the airport occasionally but that’s about the extent of my knowledge.
My in-laws just sold their house for a million and moved out of town. Bought in 1996 for $230k. It’s likely a tear down.
Not as good as Manhattan for sure, particularly on food. Things have gotten worse post pandemic, but hopefully it gets back to status quo. Booze is predominantly beer oriented with breweries, but I'd say it's a pretty heavily soaked social scene.
Just go ahead come up north of Charlotte to Iredell County and spend your time on the lake imo You single? Kids? And Raleigh is 100% better for young professionals.
Was a bit in the sauce last night, so my apologies for lack of substance in my response. Like anywhere else, whether you would like living in Charlotte depends on your circumstances.
Charlottes pretty cool but no way there won’t be a culture shock coming from Manhattan. My favorite things about Charlotte are sports, concerts and breweries
We're in Fort Mill and our neighbor's house just sold for 31k over asking in 20 hours with no contingencies, fixes, sight unseen and that's 68k more than what it sold for 16 months ago. 17.7% appreciation in 16 months.
They don't even want to live there anymore do they? Now would be the perfect time for them to sell, they'd get more now than they would've gotten 2 years ago if they'd completely renovated the place.
Pretty much this. As long as expectations are tempered and there is an understanding that the 2 places are in now way comparable, then you won’t be disappointed.
my mom does. my dad doesn’t and his job is remote now. my grandmas condo is empty now and they should just move there at this point their neighbor got like 600k last summer. they could get 550 without doing a thing to it
We're just about to start a decent sized renovation ourselves after seeing how ridiculous the market is right now. We could get a bunch more than our house is probably worth but then would overspend and likely not find a new house that we want. Best thing in this market is to be building a house. Materials are more expensive but you can sell high and just rent until your house is done.
As to the housing price piece, it’s absolutely bananas. And you better have a house lined up in town before selling yours, because it will be difficult to find a house on the market unless you're willing to shell out a whole bunch of cash.
Kingsley is the one thing I miss about not going into the office at all. I think they’re selling off most of our campus back there.
Which is kind of funny because one of the main reasons they're leaving our neighborhood is we live with a bunch of Indian families who don't talk to us. That and we have a community pool and amenities right across the street we can't go to because our HOA is cheap af and won't join the Community Association.
We are also in the middle of a renovation at the moment. If we were so inclined, I think we would get 33% more than what we paid for the house when we bought it in May 2019 if we were to put it on the market after the renovation is complete.
Yeah, we have more and more Indian families in our neighborhood. They do tend to keep to themselves although some are OK and my kids play with some of their kids so it's not too bad.
I’m sure there will be some culture shock, but my wife and I spent the better part of our lives in Alabama. We have a 2 year old and another due in September so we want to get out of city, and suburbs around here are either absurdly expensive or awful. Want to spend a max of 850k on a house, nice neighborhood with good schools and not too terrible of a commute into uptown where I think our office will be. Background is my firm is on the verge of opening an office in Charlotte and asked me if I want to make the move, given they know my desire to eventually move closer to home.
Young professional with family and money to spend, you’re right in Charlottes wheelhouse. I recommend living in the city limits, especially if you’re going to work downtown. $850K won’t get you in Myers Park or Eastover, and likely not in Dilworth, but you can make that work in Cotswold, Madison Park, NoDa and a host of other in town neighborhoods.
850 will get you a nice 3 BR/3B or mid range 4 BR probably 3,000 SF in the nicest areas which will be 15-20 min commute. At 30-45 minutes 850k will get you as much as you want.
my parents live in southpark and 850k will get you a lot of house in a good school district and like 15 mins from uptown
for sure Didn’t realize MP has slipped. I also went to MP and it was considered like a top 50 high school in the country at the time. My daughter will go there as well, although thats about 7 years away thank god.
i think it was ranked 18th in the country by newsweek my freshman year (05-06) they dont have the IB program anymore iirc which has caused it to fall i think. but its in such an affluent area that it won't just turn into a bad school or anything
lol holy shit who's the principal there now? i can't remember who was there when i was but if i saw the name it would click if its the same one
