Spoiler: it’s difficult if you’re not rich. lol what the fuck are you doing not on a plane? My bags would be packed and I’d be shit posting on a beach.
It’s pretty difficult separating my feelings now that I’m living in the UK. Like, the UK is a shit show too but much less of one, but I’m trying to not get as emotionally invested in US stuff since I don’t plan on moving back, but it’s tough.
Similar spot and we talk about it now and then. A not insignificant hurdle is the pet immigration rules, wild strict.
well the Right there isn’t nearly as batshit crazy and at least Boris leaned on science after early Trump like screwups w Covid
Unless your company is moving your stuff for you, moving overseas can get insanely expensive too. We paid ~$12/cubic foot to get our stuff here and that shit adds up quick.
Yeah, like I said, it’s a shit show but the stakes are a lot lower. Very little gun violence, very little police murder, universal health care; it could be worse. Racism is pretty awful and a few of my wife’s European friends have gone back to the continent because they were being hassled for being French and German.
refusing to budge on gun control despite the numbers will never not be insane to me and I assume to Brits and others in how they view us. And it’s made worse by how easily it is brushed off by our media
Honestly, how much better off would this country be if the leaders and decision makers of the Dem party were anybody with more than an overcooked linguine noodle for a spine?
I always snap at folks for talking about Republican lack of spine (it's not that they lack courage, it's that they're terrible fucking people) and it's getting very difficult not to use the same kind of response if someone suggests the same of the Democrats.
Maddow has gotten shit on for going too far down the conspiracy rabbit hole w Trump-Russia but he doesn’t even hide it
10 Republican and Democrat Senators have proposed a five year, $974 million infrastructure bill. The Republicans are Cassiday (LA), Collins (ME), Murkowski (AK) Portman (OH), and Romney (UT). Manchin and Sinema are among the Democrats. If Manchin can pull along Capito (WV), her group that met with Biden two weeks ago included Crapp (ID), Barasso (WY), Blunt (MO) and Wicker (MS). We’ll see if they get to 60.
Turns out when I get really drinky I can't shut the fuck up about being an activist and wanting to get younger people involved. I still think the system is broken beyond repair but if we don't fight for it, who will? I'm ready to fight again and I 100% suck as a person. I think I just needed to break for a few days to recollect myself.
I need to do this more, as well. Consistently reading all the bad/stupid shit that happens cannot be good for well-being
I’m beginning to think the only way we can teach people actual world history is through comic book movies. I feel like until Watchmen came out, most people didn’t know about Tulsa. Like wtf.
History is whitewashed in American education. If you want to know about the truly bad shit you have to find it elsewhere and up until the advent of the internet, that was exceedingly difficult.
Well the good thing is no one will take this seriously with the real estate ad on a bench looking letterhead
That goon dipshit is also the director of an organization that prepares and places young "journalists" in internships and jobs. An organization that is the project of another organization devoted to the "conservative project" and whose president is Scott Walker.
I really wish NZ was closer. Think I need to stick to my Netherlands plan for now. Maybe Belgium so I can get fat on waffles and beer.
