Appears one of my irrigation lines got cut or eaten through. Is there a fix for this I can try before bringing someone in? Home Depot let me down suggesting some PVC connectors. The diameter is about that of a penny.

Pulling the trigger on renewing the warranty with AHS. My house is old and we have had a few problems repaired through claims. Overall I don't enjoy their service, but they did help me with my new bathroom last year. And my water heater is like 25 years old. Worth the $700 imo.

It looks like a bigger diameter than 1/8th, but this will get you close

    Hey bigred77 and others.

House is 1,890 sq/ft. I've had two quotes for a 3.5 ton unit, one quote for a 3 ton, and one quote for a 2.5 ton. What's the discrepancy here?

I currently have a 2.5 ton, which isn't getting the job done. So I need to at least go 3.

This is a rough estimator where you can plug in your info. There are some decent calculators out there.

Need some help with a small project- the faucet on our bath tub is loose and I can’t figure out how to tighten it and I’m not sure all the terms to search in google to find what I’m looking for.

in the pic it’s the center thing, doesn’t pull up or anything but over the years has loosened and moves side to side quite a bit. Any tips? Don’t see any Allen wrench set screws or anything

May want to check with your electric utility prior to going electric tankless. Those things have pretty high demand and have caused some utilities to put homes on a demand based rate which ain’t cheap.

I'm tired of looking for a suitable childproof av cabinet for my electronics, so I'm going to repurpose one. This is the back panel that I need to remove for wires/ventilation. What would be the best tool for the job for a clean cut? It is about .25 inch and solid across, but I just need to cut the middle. I'll have to cut it while it's on there

I'm building an offgrid outdoor shower this weekend. This looks like the best option for hot water, runs on a D-battery + propane.

Question -- if I get that, I only need a showerhead, not a full shower setup, correct? All the shower set-ups have a hot/cold set-up, and this only has one output for hot water (according to the videos).

The videos I've watched don't mention the waterpump, so why would anyone need this?

There 100% should be a set screw directly on the back towards the base. It might be covered by a little plastic part to cover it up though.

I don't think so. We had rain sporadically last week.

Quick google search tells me it's natural for them to shed every 2-3 years. Do need to check where they're falling from, because if it's at the tip of the branch it could be insects/disease.

Yea and those are some expensive trees. My mom and grandmother had them growing up. So when I moved into this house I went to a nursery and grabbed one. Got up to checkout and the lady says “that will be $150”… I was a little shocked but it was worth it.

I got pretty deep into Japanese Maples at the start of quarantine. Watched a 5 part YouTube series on proper pruning technique. Also a fan of Japanese philosophy and principles. I recommend r/JapaneseMaples and this book. There’s over 1400 recognized different variations of Japanese Maples.

True but they are super easy to propagate if you aren't in a rush for a tree. I have some cuttings of mine growing in my grandparents greenhouse, so when I eventually move I don't need to buy more.

The green leaved ones grow very quickly, Bloodgoods take longer

Am I insane for entertaining my wife’s desire to replace the floors in our house?

It started with the carpet which has honestly needed to be done since I moved in; but then expanded to replacing the wood floors.

I am probably going to turn this into a rental when we upgrade so I am looking at doing the porcelain wood tiles instead. Just got my second quote. Holy fuck.

now she wants new floors in the new house

How much? Removal of original faux hardwood and installation of porcelain tile cost us $12k for our 1200 sq. ft. condo a couple years back. I really like the stuff.

All in just a shade under 20k. That includes the demo.

Yea that’s what we are looking at. The porcelain faux wood tile. It’s priced at about $8.00 a foot right now and it’s not any cheaper than wood. But it’s the 9 inch by 36 inch tiles and apparently they are indestructible.

If we do rent it; it’s gonna have to have new floors so it makes sense to do it now and enjoy it. If we rent it with the hardwoods like they are; they will just get more beat up over time. Thank goodness I just paid off my truck.

Yea it’s about 1.50 a foot for them to do it. It’s all glued down hardwoods so I am sure the glue will be a bitch to get up. Worth every penny I think. Especially this summer.

My first thought is wait 6-12 more months until that boy of yours is really good at walking. The first time he falls and the back of his head hits the porcelain, you will be able to tell from the sound it makes and his crying that porcelain is less forgiving than wood.

    Other than that, great plan.
