I think there is some non-baseball interest in having those guys in Grand Rapids for a bit now that it is High A, along with the baseball interest of having them do it for a couple of months before moving them up.
Crash Davis made it back to the majors as a coach! Wasn't there something related to his service time near the end of 2015 when the Tigers could have called him up and he would have vested into health care or something, and they didn't?
His .256 average with 26 HR on the 06 team would probably make him best hitter on the current team... Think he had 1st or 2nd highest ops on that 06 team iirc
With Torkelson and Dingler, the discussions on a potential promotion from High-A West Michigan have begun. “We’ve been pondering that, because we’re very excited about Dingler and Torkelson at this point,” Avila said during a Friday afternoon session with reporters discussing the state of the organization. “Obviously they were struggling, particularly Torkelson, and now he’s bounced back and he’s showing why he was the first pick [in last year’s MLB Draft] and why Dingler was the [Tigers’] second pick. “We've actually been already talking about it. It'll come. We'll let you guys know when we make that decision, but at some point if they continue to do well, it's just a natural progression. I would even include Daniel Cabrera on that one. He’s also coming around and putting together a very solid season."
Someone ask Avila about the $14 million in awful contracts he dished out this year. Norris - $3.5 mil Ramos. - $2.0 mil Jacoby - $2.7 mil Mazara - $2.0 mil Tehran - $3.0 mil
avila said during tigers game they’re going to start giving him most of the playing time at 1b. Smart move. Let him focus on bat.
that was awesome. Really, really hope they let Daz, Hill (when healthy) and Paredes roll a bit and give them a shot. At least Hill and Cameron are good defensively, and they're both swinging it well this year.
