Could someone enlighten me on how he “fucked up music?” Could it possible be that he only “fucked up” a certain genre of music? What does that even mean? I am pretty sure the music I listen to is less “fucked up” today than it was in 2013.
Except he's not, and the timing of this started around Usher's decline in popularity, so he was likely just being a salty bitch.
Usher and people who share his beliefs believe TPain fucked it up by starting the popularity of auto tune.
Those people are morons. Auto-tune has been around since the late 90s. Snoop Dog, Cher, and Radiohead have used auto-tune. They were something before T-pain or even auto-tune was a thing.
Obviously the accuracy of the story will be tested now, but assuming he is being truthful (which I can't reasonably think of why he wouldn't be, the timeline lines up with the period where his mental health being shaky was well known), Usher should have just shot him in the leg and taken away his ability to walk for 4 years. It would have been less invasive to his life. This type of stuff sends me on tangents because I've dealt with bipolar depression since I was 15, but emphasizing how fucked up it is to do or say some specific shit like that, in that scenario is important. Obviously clinical depression is a mystery to most, it isn't something easily understandable even when you can visibly see the effects of it on someone you care about, which is why I always refer to this Sapolsky lecture when someone is trying to understand more about how it truly ravages a person (just the beginning): Tl;dr, yeah, fuck Usher
Assuming Usher meant he opened the door for a bunch of people that can't actually sing -- stupid comment, watch T-Pain's Tiny Desk concert. Autotune isn't a crutch for him, just something he used for artistic effect. You mad at the wrong one Usher. Usher is like that kid that was good at spelling mad cause autocorrect came out
Cher kicked the door wide open in 1998 with "Believe." That's an example of turning the Autotune all the way up to get the glitchy, robot type voice on purpose. That's not even the way it was originally intended to use. When I recorded at a studio, the engineer asked what key each song was in when we were doing mixing. Then he went ahead and slapped on Autotune in that key just to fix any micro imperfections in the singer's performance

I took my son and his friend to a game in Fayetteville when they were probably 14/15 years old. There are Kum & Go's everywhere there. Well they thought it was hilarious and both bought a Kum & Go hoodie. Was so awkward dropping friend off and trying to explain to his mom I had nothing to do with it
My toddler is watching Cart Narcs and cheering on the guy against the rude people. She thinks them getting angry and throwing fits is hysterical.
