I’m heading up there next weekend and planning to play once or twice while the fiancée does some wedding stuff. I’d like to get out to Common Ground but am not sure on a second round. I’ve been told that CG will work with you as a single to get you in, that true? I know their booking policies are tight and the good tee times go quick
Not sure about the single, but yeah, it’s tough to get a good tee time there on short notice. Looks like they let you book 7 days out, so you probably want to check on them this Friday. I’d also recommend Colorado National, Walnut Creek/Legacy Ridge, Riverdale Dunes or Green Valley Ranch.
Denver CC is definitely an old money club. From what I can tell, it’s usually in great shape, albeit on a small piece of land. Also, I’ll happily be your plus one if you can get in.
Negative. As NineteenNine said, I'd jump all over Denver CC though. Hoping to get on Cherry Hills next trip. I played Fossil Trace and The Ridge at Castle Pines last time and would recommend either.
Our wedding is in Castle Pines so I’m saving The Ridge for August. Have heard really good things from a few people so that one sounds solid
In Hartford for the Travelers and about 20 of the players were at the hotel bar tonight. Enjoyed the people watching.
How hard is it to get to the course with parking and whatnot? Just realized I have wedding about 20 minutes away from the course, flying into Hartford Friday night.
PGA championship tickets for 2022 (Southern Hills - Tulsa) went live today for people that registered. Is $195 for a day worth it? Includes food and non-alcoholic drinks, thought it was interesting that is included w/ the ticket
Seems odd that a normal grounds ticket includes food and bev. I know that price is higher than what I paid for Bethpage but once you factor in food for the day it probably is pretty close. I only plan on going one day because I’m not the biggest fan of trying to watch in person with crowds that size.
Looking like we're going to golf somewhere nearby Saturday, hit up a casino afterwards, and go the the final round Sunday.
the food (and beverage) options at this years were abhorrent. I dont remember it being that bad at the prior PGAs I have been to, so could have been half-assed due to Covid. Any of the hospitality sections with grandstand viewing are worth it imo. Will be interested to see what its like at Whistling Straits in September, though I am not doing the highest priced hospitality.
Hit me up when it’s closer and we can play at my club north of Tulsa, definitely better than the public options down there
I had a nice mat that gave me a little bit of tennis elbow so I went on golf simulator forum and read a few of their threads on the topic and ordered a different one. Haven’t had any issues since.
Whatd you get? I was going to do a CCE but was told by the sim vets that even those mess you up / Buy Fiberbuilt or get injured, essentially. Ordered the Fiberbuilt insert a few hours ago and am going to DIY the stance mat using what I have
i had the cce but went with a mat called the Quattro. The forum nerds love it because it’s well cushioned but the ball flight for the launch monitors is true.
The PGA leapfrogging the US Open probably doesn't help. They used to have a 2 month build up since the Masters, and the PGA comes at them with a much better course and Phil. The schedule might be all the more reason for the USGA to go to more of a rota of their best courses.
There was a good story a week ago about the identities of the PGA Championship and US Open becoming close to identical recently. The PGA did the right thing by pushing for more difficult course set-ups to distinguish themselves better from Tour events. During that same time period, the USGA has catered to the players’ demands and taken the bite out of their championship.
This Bubba thing is a debacle. They couldn't get broken piece of shaft out of driver. They were just hitting it with shit and throwing it against the ground. Finally went for a back up and it's not back in time so he had to tee off with a wood.
Just had this conversation with my wife Her - Who was the golfer in the playoff in the major a lot of years ago? Me - …… Her I think it was vs Angel Cabrera Me Kenny Perry Her No that’s not it, he was American. Me Kenny Perry. Her - No not him Me He was the only playoff vs Cabrera in a major Grabs her phone and starts searching Her - It was Rocco Mediate. Me - That was vs Tiger
I originally liked the tweet because talking shit to Shipnuck is generally something I'm on board with, but he just played a hundred holes for charity so probably not the time
