I’m still thinking that levy could drag this out long enough to appoint southgate. I think that’s who he’s wanted all along.
Fair play to Spurs fans for saying fuck no to gattuso and doing something about it. Levy clearly realized that he couldn’t appoint him. Not on the back of the super league disaster. Spurs fans have been very patient. Even talking themselves into fonseca after the conte disaster but gattuso was more than they were comfortable with. Like BleedinGreen said yesterday, they should have just appointed Potter in may but not too late to do that. I don’t understand the hate for him from some Spurs fans. Can you imagine how that Brighton team would have finished this season if you had kane actually putting some of their missed chances in the net? Brighton made chelsea look like an elite finishing team this season.
I’m also 43 and not tied down to an employer. Fuck it, I’ll manage these bellends. I won the TMB sim league, this can’t be harder than that. Plus, I already speak the language.
“Why did Gattuso’s name get out, we could have signed him under the cover of darkness and popped the surprise on everyone!” Fuckin assholes.
This is an ideal year to have money to spend and in cohesion with a new staff, when all of France and other euro leagues are broke.
According to David Ornstein’s reporting yea. I mean they are a Premier League club and cleared out books.
really surprised they went along with it after the fan backlash. I think he’s a fine manager but they could have found someone else who the fans didn’t hate.
I thought I read that multiple fan groups weren’t happy and I feel like a club like Everton values these things more than the “big 6” clubs. I’d imagine it’s less popular than say mourinho to Spurs and I think that leaves the margin for error a lot lower for the manager. Evertons owner is too worried about big names with managers and players.
I'd be interested in hearing the #Everton posters opinion. His tactics are dated, but he's still a well respected manager. Pretty sure he still has a house in Liverpool, too
i don’t think it’s as disastrous as most Everton supporters think it is…….but I much rather have gone hard on Galtier, Potter with Nuno as the safe choice then Rafa……..but Moshri is going to do as he pleases, but I don’t think it’s shit tier hire and too many Everton fans can’t get over the Liverpool thing and calling Everton a “small club”
Everton’s biggest fan forum is absolutely irate with the idea of Benitez. As an American I find it wild how passionate they are about this, but it is mostly because he managed Liverpool and he referenced Everton as a ‘small club.’ A former manager coaching a rival team here in the US leagues isn’t uncommon. But that’s mostly the reason why they are upset. Also, the fact that he has been managing in China is alarming, most feel he is in for a paycheck and doesn’t really have it in his heart to truly set out to build something at Everton. They see it more as a convenience for him since he already lives in Liverpool.
and the only way he wants/cares is to be given wide latitude in the use of the biggest checkbook possible
tough for me to believe this is still the case when his most recent job was managing for 18 months in China.
