i have a lot more respect for the "hot tub" streamers who are very obviously trying to attract (young) viewers with their tits compared to the "content" streamers who are very obviously trying to attract (young) viewers with their dumb fake drama
a girl with big tits is in a bikini on this site that should be for video games. on another site a girl is naked and has a dudes fist up her ass. I mean its the internet. Kids will see shit. id say they are kinda in for a slow one if the first 18+ type thing they see on the webs is the hottub stuff. I know what i looked at when i was a teen and it was more the later. Money aspect is another side. sure a few dumb fucks are gonna spend money they dont have, but i bet you theyd have done something different for about the same outcome. most people will spend some change and at some point in their life be like “oh well that was a waste of money”
Random venting time about my favorite stream. I don't know if anyone else ever watches the Go Off Kings, but Rob Whisman, one of the three hosts, announced on Monday he is no longer going to co-host the stream going forward. Jesse (@bronzehammer on Twitter) and Stefan (@boring_as_heck on Twitter) said the stream will continue, but they are taking a break. I'm really happy for Rob, who has gone to rehab and seems to be living a much different life than he was when the stream began 4 years ago, and appears content to pursue a life offline. However, he has provided some of my hardest laughs from any stream/podcast/online content the past 3 years, and I'll miss his contributions greatly. I'm hoping Chris James, Dan O'Sullivan, Bakoon, or DB will consider becoming semi-regular hosts, and that maybe Rob would consider maybe one-off appearances on charity streams or something of that nature. Also, I really hope Huck Watch continues long as Mike Huckabee makes his TV show. If anyone likes the podcasts Your Kickstarter Sucks and/or Blocked Party and doesn't watch the stream, I highly recommend it when they start back up.
I guess I missed the hot tub discussion. And no it shouldn’t be allowed. I work at an elementary school, the amount of kids that watch twitch is a lot more than you would think. There’s no reason for that on twitch, plenty of other sites out there they can do that on. Not a primary video game streaming service.
Also the “they can find ways to view naked women in a lot of places so what’s the big deal with allowing it here” is a terrible argument.
Never thought I'd use Twitch much, but working from home for the last year, I find myself watching it almost daily. It's good background noise. Mainly watch The Stock Guy and some MLB The Show guys. As for the hot tub stuff, Twitch should have some sort of rating for large streams. If they do, I haven't seen it. As a parent, I should be able to block that kinda stuff for an 8 yr old if I want to.
there's 18+ filters also i too got into it when i started a job where half my day was at home and needed something less engaging than tv shows/movies as background
Is the hot tub stuff 18+? I don't watch any of them. If they are, then let them do whatever. On the parents after that.
Yea 2k21 has sucked ass so one of the biggest streamers, Tyceno, has been doing them. It's clear he's being paid to do it too. I don't watch much outside of like 5-7 guys so didn't know others were doing it.
that’s different then a girls ass out. Eventually that all led to ASMR getting ridiculous with the same girls simulating blowjobs and doing all types of weird shit tbh.
FTR I’m all for sex workers and using what they’ve got to make money, but there are mediums they can use to facilitate that and twitch shouldn’t be that place.
There was an interesting discussion on the “real housewives of twitch” show/pod. One of them has a friend who works at an agency and works with brands and brands have told them it’s better to offer stuff to just men for twitch bc if it’s offered to a female they have to do more research into that streamer to see what kind of content they do so they’d rather just not do that. Obviously that’s shitty of that company to do that but it still shows that it has created a problem for female streamers who are more just normal gaming content.
It is and it isnt. while its not an argument for it to be on twitch it is an argument for the fact that its sorta tame compared to what else is out there. I wouldnt watch hott ub streams but its not corrupting kids minds to see some big boobies in a bikini.
I’m kinda chuckling as I type this, but I was at my nephew’s baseball games over the weekend and I overheard what appeared to be 10-12 year olds talking about who they watch on twitch. They were talking about Minecraft and Fortnite streamers for all of 30 seconds, then I heard one of them whisper to the other about some “fox” (indiefox) girl and amouranth. I recognize that parents should be regulating content seen by the kids if that’s what they want to do, but I imagine it’s difficult. Also, there’s a visceral response to just seeing some nearly nude woman, cheeks out, whispering and licking into your ear. Kids aren’t usually prepared for how to deal with their thoughts at that young an age, I certainly wasn’t (not saying that all kids were the same as me).
Plus, Twitch has had an identity crisis for a long time. Money reigns supreme at the corporate level, as expected. It’ll be difficult to strike the balance of guiding my child to make good and conscientious decisions while not helicoptering.
i just don't see it being any different (arguably not remotely as bad) as parents monitoring language or violent content. US has always been ultra weird about sexuality though. your kid could end up on a white supremacists channel, would be bad! and you may not even notice!
Lol imagine walking in on your kid one day and they’re practicing their Heil’s and their high-step march. But really, sexuality and violence are definitely more instinctive than cursing, in my opinion, so I can see the parallel there. Either way, these topics have fine lines of distinction, and often overlap. Twitch having poor communications with their user base doesn’t change the fact that if there’s content on there that you don’t want your kid to see, it’s probably best to try and have your kid’s time be spent doing something else.
Not to be that guy, but it think you'll change your view if you actually have a kid. I dont think you'd want your 8 yr old watching overtly serial content. Little sexual stuff here and there and some language here and there, sure. But I'm not going to knowingly let my 8 yr old watch Eddie Murphy Raw or a hot tub stream with people making out left and right. Maybe I'm taking your point the wrong way, idk. You're coming off like "oh it's no big deal!" and that's weird to me.
people making out would be against ToS and get insta banned, just like the ASMR simulating sex acts led to bans but in your dynamic eddie murphy raw tier content is perfectly acceptable with ToS and accessible on any stream
I don't really venture out of The Show stuff so it's just the occasional "Fuck!" or "Shit!" when giving up a HR. If streams are over the top with that stuff, just slap them with 18+. Same for language and sexuality. The violence part if harder bc it's baked into so many games. Maybe make another filter for streamers that play violent games. Just put the parent in control and let them figure out what they are comfortable with.
i mostly just wish the anti hot tub folks would state what they want the rules to be because twitch tried to get rid of the bikini just chatting streamers by saying your attire should fit the scenario you're in (a pretty fair rule), so some of those streamers just got hot tubs
I'm not really in favor of completely banning it, just slap more filters on things and let it be on the parents.
overtly sexual acts shouldn’t be allowed. Doing ASMR while in a “yoga position” while simulating a blowjob shouldn’t be allowed.
They let it go for quite a while, and really only took action once other bigger streamers started bringing it up in Twitter.
im not the most plugged into twitch person but the first day i came across the type of asmr content discussed here the streamers were banned the following day. so maybe some small streamers were doing it and staying under the radar?
nah it’s mostly amouranth who continuously does shit like this, gets banned for a few days, comes back and does it again then eventually gets banned and repeat.
When I was ~12 I would mute the TV and watch bay watch so my parents couldn’t hear me watching it staring at boobs. I assume my son will be doing the same thing but with hot tub streams in a couple of years. Big chunk of parenting is just communicating with your kids about their lives and working with them and setting rules and guidelines.
Its only a couple of particular streamers that break the rule then gets slapped on the wrist with a 3 day ban when twitch's own rules for repeated offenders is much longer if not perma banned, other smaller streamers have gotten insta perma banned for far less, which is where the majority of the complaints about twitch's inconsistency comes from. I don't care if twitch allows actual porn to be shown if that's what they want to allow, but they want to skirt the line of policing overly sexual content while still earning the PG/PG-13 sponsorship money while still allowing pretty much actual porn in their streams is the problem. A good amount of the hot tub streamers pretty much has their onlyfans links as a pinned message in their streams.
assuming they were NA or EU, yea. the rules and how they're applied differ from area to area (of the world) and there are areas where Twitch is still wild as fuck. Russian Twitch especially is crazy, you can find live sex or movie watch parties because Russian Twitch staff give no fucks. but typically if they're a three digit or less streamer they can usually stay under the radar. usually people only get popped most of the time because some rando clicks around low-viewer Twitch and then clips their shit and posts it to LSF where Twitch inevitably finds out either from reports or because staff sees the LSF post.
Been doing the same with watching a few stocks guys during the day and found a guy who plays games like sea of thieves and somehow makes it look fun to play so watch those sometimes.
H3 coming back to twitch and attacking the gambling stuff has gone insane. Him, Hasan, mizkif, train, and xqc all in the same call
Honestly the guys who do gambling full time are a lot better about the responsible gambling promotion than som eof the big streamers who have recently made it more mainstream
yeah there is absolutely a way to have a semi-reasonable argument about gambling on stream, mitigating externalities, etc. to be clear that will still be unacceptable to H3 which is probably still what I think the moral and ethical argument is. you just aren't going to get a normal reasonable argument from any of the big streamers who fell out of their chairs at the $$$ values they were being offered. none of these guys is exactly playing with a full deck of cards, except shockingly mizkif was able to understand the argument and augment his behavior in response.
