I’m sticking up for an enabler if anything. What’s really weird is how you pretend to condemn a system of retribution unless it benefits you in some ancillary fashion. Pathetic.
You said it was the only shitty thing he’s done. I was pointing out another shitty thing he did that I remembered. I distinctly remember that one because that poor girl’s father came out and said she deserved it because he was such a big Tide fan.
“I’m always going to be for the players, my biggest concern is how do we manage it, how do we police it, how to make it fair to everybody. It should be fair for everybody,” Saban said.
I don’t remember every single detail of that issue but I really need a link to see where he said she deserved it. I don’t think that was said
I’ll quote the full quote since you didn’t I don’t think he’s saying she deserved to get hit since he explicitly said he didn’t hit her. Domestic assault cases are awful and tricky because so much victim blaming goes on. I don’t see the need to twist what the dad said to make it seem like he said “my daughter deserved to get hit”
Did you read the part where a police officer witnessed everything first hand, so this dad’s account is absolutely false. How much physical violence do you advocate when a division 1 college football player gets hands with his girlfriend? My answer is none.
I agree physical violence isn’t ok. Ive never said it was. That article doesn’t state the police witnessed him hitting her. My whole point is you saying her dad said she deserved to get hit which he didn’t say.
You have absolutely no idea what happened you’re just declaring him guilty because it fits your narrative.
Holy shit. Is it really hard to say, Saban may have handled that poorly instead of defending a football player assaulting a girl?
And the weirdest thing is that I didn’t even really say Saban was a piece of shit. Just that he handled this event poorly.
Ah ok. For whatever reason, the article cuts off for me at the cops saw it, he grabbed her, I don’t think that’s the question. I’m curious why you said the dad said she deserved to get hit when that’s not what he said? It’s a shitty situation where Courtney shouldn’t have grabbed her neck and should’ve been punished. I don’t get why twisting what the dad said.
It's impossible to be successful at it without being a megalomaniac with tremendously warped priorities.
Why do fans always have the reflex of defending actions instead of saying yeah that sucked and was handled poorly?

This is so bizarre. The cop saw the girl walking away from Upshaw, he chased after her, and then put his hands on her. The dad said it was probably initiated by his daughter (who was walking away) and he didn’t want Upshaw to get in trouble. What is going on right now?
Right we’ve established what happened, that is was wrong, and that he should’ve been punished. I think we’re all on the same page there. my confusion is why did you say the dad said “she deserved to get hit”? That’s not what he said and kind of a shitty thing to put on a father imo
electronic i very well could be misunderstanding your post. I was taking “she deserved to be hit” literally like punched in the face so that could be some disconnect too
Glad we can agree on the first part. On the second, if you think that “I think she initiated it, I hope he doesn’t get in trouble” when we acknowledge that Upshaw roughed up his girlfriend as being fundamentally different than “she deserved it” then we’ll just have to agree to disagree.
Not directly relevant to the "deserved it" conversation, but true trash behavior: https://www.tuscaloosanews.com/article/DA/20091007/news/606111663/TL
I don’t think anyone is trying to relitigate the Upshaw incident, which everyone agrees is fucked up. I was just pointing out that eho is a douche for offering it as a counter argument to IV saying Saban hasn’t done anything really egregious outside of signing Jonathan Taylor, then he started adding facts by “distinctively remembering” that her dad said she deserved it and trying to impute that on the whole fan base.
To be fair, IV's recollection was that she was the one arrested, which suggests that there might have been some selective remembering on both sides...
Now I see where he’s coming from after reading the article and remembering the facts of the case. It came off differently at the time.
While I do generally believe that every single Bama fan would gladly donate their daughters to get ragdolled by Alabama football players, and then claim that their daughters actually started it, and then yell roll tide outside of the courthouse, I don’t believe I ever said that in this thread.
Point conceded; the heart wants what the heart wants. Though I would argue that the response in this thread retroactively justified that statement.
The response was to you being an asshole to IV but it’s not surprising that you would retroactively argue anything to maintain your title as World’s Most Right Man
All I said was that Georgia would’ve won titles if Saban had been fired for the Upshaw incident. My post was as innocent as you pointing out a second instance where Nick dropped the ball on domestic abuse.
