Oh yeah well when you made that comment life was decent in NYC. Now it’s just totally fucked. Nothing to do and nowhere to go. Unless you are one of the crazy assholes who enjoyed eating outside in a parka
After 18 months back in San Francisco to look after my mom, moving back to Brooklyn March 1. Very, very ready.
I want to thank the person on 79th and Riverside who put both of these items out in nearly unused condition, I love you so much
Coming to town Sunday-Monday after a wedding in CT. Was pretty bummed to find out a lot of the places I like are permanently closed but its understandable with how awful the last 14 months as been. My docket is Rubirosa, Momofuku Noodle Bar, Balthazar. Bar wise hopefully hit Dante, Boilermaker, Death and Co
I’ve had Frank Pepe and that was amazing *Caveat I had it at midnight after an all day bender for the Yale/Harvard football game
I’ve never had Sally’s, but I recommend either Pepe’s (classic new haven style) or Bar (brewpub with solid NH style pizza).
Ended up going to Modern in New Haven. It was excellent. I like NYC pizza better though, my favorite is Prince St.
My friend went, he said it was cool but more of a sit and watch type of thing. Sounds more like a movie instead of an art exhibit.
if my main motivation is in nightlife am I going to regret visiting at the end of August? Is there any possibility of things getting turned upside down by delta based on what any of you are hearing/experiencing at this point?
As of right now there’s no talk of another shut down. Cases are up but NY is one of the states with over 70% of residents vaccinated. What type of nightlife are you coming in for? Could be a bit quieter than normal on a summer weekend.
I'm catching a couple of sets at blue note (which as of now are totally calendar locked in, tickets selling, etc) and honestly whatever the hell else I feel like in the moment. I feel silly asking because I am obviously able to look places up and see if they're actually operating and if there are any restrictions and whatnot, but I figured I'd try anyway because I'm mildly skittish about finalizing my accommodations.
Hit up Baby Luc’s soft opening tonight in the hood. Mark gave me a free slice. Locals only just wandering in. Love Carroll Gardens more than anything. Fancy
Went to Lamalo reopening tonight and it was amazing if you like middle eastern food. In the Arlo hotel a few blocks from me.
Girlfriend wants to come back to NYC for her birthday in a few months. We usually stay on Houston near East Village cause we have the food/bar scene pretty dialed in now after a few trips. I'm thinking about Brooklyn this time, is there an area you would recommend?
Williamsburg has some nice hotels, and fantastic restaurants. Try walking in for lunch at Misi, impossible to get reservations but it’s incredible.
Williamsburg has you covered re: a bunch of different hotel options with tons of food/drinking near by. 1Hotel is walkable to DUMBO and Atlantic Ave, plus it's just absolutely sick.
We often stay at NU or Hilton Brooklyn. Good spot in between DUMBO, Red Hook, Gowanus, Park Slope, Fort Greene, and many options of trains into Manhattan.
Just got back from a 36 hour NY drive by, stayed with some family in Prospect Park South. Ate at Werkstatt and the Commodore, ventured into West Village for Carbone.
There is a 60,000 person concert taking place August 21st on the great lawn in Central Park so I’d say yes.
