Probably not a bad plan. The TCL is a good ass tv for the money. You’re gonna shit when you get into 4k stuff. Pretty insane difference from something that’s 11yo.
https://www.costco.com/lg-65"-class...n-plan-bundle-included.product.100657326.html of course, it's out of stock now. Sigh.
Going to get a mount and sound bar today. I know this question has been asked and answered countless times in here, but I assume the Sonos Beam is sufficient for a soundbar?
Anyone have a vizio oled? I need a new 60-65 incher and the vizio is a good bit cheaper than the comparable LG, Sony, and Samsung models
Anyone messed with a projector? New house has a large wall in the basement I’m tempted to make into a large tv surface.
Yes, not a permanent TV fixture, but I have one that goes up to 120". Fire away if you have any specific questions.
I bought a portable one with an outdoor screen for my wife for Christmas this year because she wanted to have outdoor movie nights and invite friends and such Haven't ever set it up or anything because women are great at ideas but terrible at execution HTH's
Similar situation last year and rolled with the Samsung Q80T 55 inch and Sonos Arc soundbar. Very happy with that setup. TV had comparable ratings to the LG CX (regarded as the best in this class) and was a few hundred cheaper. Planning to add a Sonos sub and surrounds at some point. Also have a Sonos beam in my master, which is great as well.
Only way I'd get a soundbar is if I wanted to listen to music on the tv. Don't need it for shows and find it flat out annoying for sports. I kinda don't understand why people want them except for movies maybe
they do, I also have a portable though. check this for the best comprehensive list and review. https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-projectors/
Idk, I have been to peoples house before that had a soundbar watching a football game and all I could hear was pervasive crowd noise. I don't need that much sound for sports. I realize I'm probably way off since everyone gets soundbars but sometimes on here I just try to learn what other people know that I am missing, like when I said I hate musicals
I’d put money that the issue at your buddies house is that someone messed with the sound mixing settings
Yup, turn that thing to “arena” or whatever and it’s going to sound like shit. A full atmos setup will sound awful if the person using it is an idiot.
What’s the boards thoughts on Insignia TVs from Best Buy? I’ve been happy with the Vizio’s I got in 2017 and the TCL I got in 2020. Would this be similar quality?
Finally going to upgrade the living room tv after about 8 years. Anyone have an opinion on the LG C1 vs the Sony A80J? Seems like most of the reviews are pretty split between the two, but lean Sony if you aren’t gaming a lot, which I won’t be.
LG is the best on the market. I've never heard someone say go Sony if you don't go LG. Samsung is usually the 2nd option.
Finally retiring my dinosaur Samsung 78 JU750D tv. Deciding between 83 LG C1 OLED and 85 Samsung QN90A QLED The C1 has been out for quite a while, is there an newer version on the horizon? Anyone have thoughts?
Both Samsung and LG have put out TV's in the last 4 months. Both are great TVs. LG is the best on the market but it is a slightly smaller TV (83 inches compared to 85) and you are paying about $1500 more depending on current sales. Can't go wrong either way when you are playing at the top of the market.
Looks like I’m now in the market for a new living room television since my Samsung that’s only about 4 or so years old is about to take a shit (screen flickering etc). Paid over 2k for it so I won’t be doing Samsung again. Current setup is 65” but will likely go to ~75”. We chose a TCL for our kitchen which has performed well. I’ll probably do the same for living room. Anyone sold their tv to online buyer like those that buy phones etc?
I told this earlier ITT, but my 65 TCL shit the bed within a month after passing its 1-yr warranty. They sent a guy out who tried and failed to repair. Said it was fucked. They replaced it despite warranty expiration. Replaced with a refurb, but I wasn't gonna argue about that. 6+ months later and still fine. High customer service marks if you don't mind being spied on by China.
I have two TCLs, one is going on 3 years no issues, one shit the bed about 6 months in and they replaced it immediately and now I’m about a year into that one no issues.
You cover it too? It’s under shelter but obviously that’s doesn’t prevent stuff. Also love 15 miles from the ocean so it’s gonna get fucked up
I don’t leave it out a lot, but when I do I have a cover over it. Left it out with the cover last night and it sprinkled a little. I haven’t turned it on tonight but didn’t look like it go wet.
Movers completely fucked my 2012 Panasonic plasma tv, so it’s time to buy a new TV. Probably gonna be in the 70”+ range.
Ha. Yeah I did the same as you recently. Went form a 42" TV from like 2008 to a 65" TCL last year when I moved. It's lovely and cost like half the price
Yes. 65’ bought in mid July. No issues so far. I bought from best buy because their warranty seems to be the only one that covers burn-in, so I got suckered for that. But an astoundingly beautiful picture on the tv, no doubt
Anyone have any recommendations for a 50-65” tv for the garage to watch football on? Something cheaper. Looking at a Vizio, TCL, or Element.
