I just get the feeling Ash hasn't been tested during the tournament and now she's going to have to step it up against one of the best grass courter in the world. Kerber at her best can take out anyone.
She needed that after her schedule, I think it’s a good thing in the meat grinder that is women’s tennis.
This is very true. I think Ash wins the title very easily if she wins the semi (and gets through in one piece). Big start by her in this match too. Kerber can't let her get away.
Fantastic tennis under consistent service pressure for Ash, but I sure wouldn’t keep giving Kerber chances like that.
Yep - Ash was super lucky that Angie failed to convert another break point. There. Finally broke her - partly her lifting & partly Ash starting to drop off a bit.
Uh huh - this is that 'mental strength' thing that I keep going on about with Ash. From 5-2 in the first, she's just tightened up for no reason and Angie's beginning to find her groove.
Well, that first set has to go down as a bit of a choke by Pliskova - three break points at 5-5 that she couldn't convert and then double faults on set point, the first break point Saba had in the set.
I wanted Saba but happy for Pliskova. Shes like female version of Berdych. Always good enough to beat the shitty competition but never beating the best
Whatever the over/under was on cut shots to Tomljanovic, we're hitting it in this set alone it appears.
