https://gofund.me/0a23ec8b I'm sure many of you remember the story of Hervis Rogers--a Harris County, Texas resident who waited six hours to cast a ballot at Texas Southern University during the presidential election in November 2020. Mr. Rogers, who works two jobs, arrived at the polls around 7:00PM after beginning his work day thirteen hours earlier. He eventually cast his ballot for Joe Biden around 1:00AM that night. Mr. Rogers was arrested on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at his home in the South Acres neighborhood of Houston in Attorney General Ken Paxton's multi-million dollar taxpayer funded attempt to uncover voter fraud. Mr. Rogers was arrested and sentenced to 25 years in prison for burglary in 1995. He was out on parole since May 20, 2004 and his parole was set to end on June 13, 2020. Mr. Rogers thought he was eligible to vote when he cast his presidential ballot. AG Paxton is prosecuting the case in Montgomery County, one of the most conservative venues in the entire state, even though Mr. Rogers lives in Harris County and cast his ballot in Harris County. The only reason Paxton brought this case in Montgomery County is because he thought it would be an easier venue in which to convict Mr. Rogers. This is a grave miscarriage of justice--something that is very familiar to Mr. Paxton, who himself is under indictment on felony security fraud charges. Judge Lisa Michalk set Mr. Rogers bail at $100,000. This is, and I can't think of another word for it, absolutely insane. I am trying to raise money to bail Mr. Rogers out of jail. He is being held on an unreasonably high bail amount that he cannot afford because he thought he was fulfilling his civic duty to vote. Please donate what you can. I will start off by donating $500. Thank you.
Paxton along with the rest of these right wing goons in Texas should be dragged through the streets and beaten. Absolutely disgusting country we live in.
We raised $20k for a dog like 15 years ago when half of us couldn't afford good beer. We should be able to get a man out of jail now.
I have donated. I encourage my fellow Virginians to join me. #Virginia Cavaliers #Virginia Tech Hokies
$1,010 so far. For everyone who complains about the system being corrupt, here is your change to actually help someone.
does the right thing for 15 years, works two jobs, and is absolutely railroaded by corrupt politicans 3 months before he is about to be done with parole because he thought he was eligible to vote in the texas democratic primary.
Donated and sent to some family members. If it’s not fully funded by tomorrow afternoon I will donate again.
also, i will not be withdrawing any of this money--it will be sent to his attorney who can withdraw it. and if we dont reach the 10k goal you will all get your money back.
Thank you to everyone who has donated. Please share with any of your friends who might be interested in helping this man out.
Donated You know, it always feels a lot better helping to keep somebody from being behind bars instead of helping build them. It’s pretty much the most simple way to look at the difference between good people and shitheads.
