Yeah, at the very least get them out there for 10-15 minutes to run around. and I don’t think this is Monday morning quarterbacking from the thread. I feel like many were saying this before the shoutout misses.
Of course I agree with the sentiment, but using that picture of those three as opposed to the entire team, actually accentuates the one's who were blamed and targeted with racism.
Bring them out earlier if you feel they help you win the match in extra time, sure. But I don’t see how “running around for 10-15 minutes” helps or hinders making a penalty kick. They’re professional footballers so they know how to kick a ball. and yes, many were saying it at the time, but it’s complete over analysis. I will die on this hill.
I get it, but I also think it unintentionally serves to point out who could be blamed. Also, the crowns are absurd especially with their expressions.
I get the latter portion of your post, but do you really think he’s post their three pics of they weren’t already being abused? I feel like you’re thinking way too much into a teammate defending his friends/peers.
I'm commenting on my initial and overall impression of the post. Pretty much splitting hairs at this point. I get what he is trying to achieve, but I think if you are going to talk team, then show team. It reminds me of the question "when was the last time you beat your wife?" (in a way). As an aside, I didn't even realize that the three black players missed their pens until the twitter reaction and now it pisses me off that I have to know that even if it means nothing to me.
I’ve always felt more comfortable after playing a bit before just going on cold turkey to take a PK. it hits different when you’re settled into a match
nobody on here can even pretend to understand the amount of pressure those players were under. I believe Southgate used analytics based on training/past history to determine his kickers and I guess that makes sense on paper but when you factor in that two of them didn't play all match, one never took a senior PK in his career and the stage they were on, I think he failed the really understand the moment. considering what Southgate went through as a player, I find it all the more confusing.
Surprising that he didn’t try to go for it more during the game considering donnarumma is like very very above average in saving penalties and Pickford is legit right on the number average also on Peter crouch’s podcast he said that taking a penalty under those circumstances would be way more difficult than scoring during open play from a pressure perspective
Hopefully Saka has a good family/support team around him because I can’t imagine what he’s going through Guessing the fa has already like reached out to sports physiologists and shit too
It's wild to me that showing up without a ticket and trying to get into a stadium still exists in England.
If they’re old pros that had been there, done that, fine. These were kids that had barely played in the entire tourney in the biggest pressure moment as a country in ages. At home. In front of fans for the first time in 18 months. Just madness to sub them in like that.
this should hurt their World Cup bid but when qatar gets a World Cup, you realize that this is a pretty minor issue. Still need a few thousand deaths to compare it to the qatar World Cup.
Did they not have enough security for a major cup final? Is that the biggest issue? Because I have no idea how the son of the Italian National team somehow is sitting on the steps as a "gang" member is in his seat. And not a single security officer is called to handle the issue.
even worse because they had these same issues for the semifinal. They knew that their security plan failed and that there would be more pressure for the final and failed again. This is 3rd world country level police/security work and a complete embarrassment. People can’t get caught off guard once. To happen a 2nd time within a week is just so bad.
I was coming to make this point. It was a very professional foul and probably even worth being sent off at that point of the match.
My understanding is that London is literally the most cctv'ed place in the world it seems odd that they wouldn't charge the people who assaulted the stewards to get in and whatnot.
Rashford is a real hero, I am glad to see him focusing on and receiving positivity. edit: everyone should stop doing that stupid Pogba runup though.
