Until I learned the origin on here a few years ago, I had no idea it was a slur. I'm not sure how one would figure that out unless told.
i don’t know how you couldn’t see it was a slur if you saw it spelled like I spelled it. It also depend on if you know that Gypsy is derogatory too. But as they say live and learn.
The assumption should be that an insult is derogatory in some way or it isn't an insult, right? The next step is figuring out why it is derogatory, and if it's because it insinuates the person being insulted is a different race, religion or sexual orientation... guys, this is elementary stuff.
fwiw usually when I write “you” in a reply I mean it in the general sense and not that specific person. So in that post I didn’t mean you specifically I meant anyone who has seen it spelled that way.
still working on it. it's a pain in the ass to withdraw from go fund me when you set it up for someone else.
Does the phrase “hold down the fort” have racist origins? I just used it and then thought of this thread.
the only poster on this site who used it was BTH, i searched it just to double check our resident literal nazi for many many years. you basically only run into it if you're rubbing shoulders with people who wouldn't dispute being called nazis.
You guys obviously don’t make the bad choice of reading Facebook comments on news posts about protests and insurrection.
never heard it either but damn now I get it and what a shitbag term……and I don’t know much about Doja Cat but she sounds like a fucking troll
Someone from GoFundMe emailed me and it sounds like they’re going to coordinate with aclu and his local attorney to move the $ this week or next. Sounds like they need to check a lot of boxes because it’s such a large amount of money
