Here is episode 1: Edit: Now I may listen to it again. I remember at the time some of these were behind a pay wall, so I can't remember if there was more than 4 total (which is all I can find on YouTube).
fuck... i was in college in DC during that time. i used to have to get up at 445 am to work out across town and i will never forget that feeling of fear. not sure if I can listen to this.
Hit Man was also really good. It covers an instance of an actual hit man, a book published that was a manual for hit men, and also Solider of Fortune magazine's involvement in the hit man and mercenary trade.
Analyze Phish French Revolution season of Revolutions Shutdown Fullcast Dave Chang Show One by Willie Slow burn on Watergate just missing out
I forgot about this - I really enjoyed it IIRC. Another good ASOIAF podcast is Game of Thrones Abridged by Alt Schwift X. It's the Alt Shift X guy and he goes through each book, chapter by chapter and just opines on each . It's pretty entertaining. He's only half way through ACOK . As far as narrowing it down to a top 5 - that's impossible. I listen to way too many podcasts. I constantly get made fun of for not knowing any new music, because I dont really listen to music anymore.
i started binging this after your post and i've blown through all of season 1 in one day. Pretty much ignored my wife and kids. Awesome storytelling. Season 2 up next. i like the host.
I havent listened to pt 2 yet, but if youre interested in this - you should listen to the Haiti season of Revolutions
Does analyze phish talk about Mike Gordon maybe being a pedo? Always wanted to know more about the rumor that he was caught taking photos of a very young girl at a boathouse.
I watched today’s doughboys as part of the doughathon and it was hilarious. It’s still up on their twitch and it’s in the last 2-3 hours if you want to see it instead of listening.
They did a good job of making Sammy seem like a real stand up guy while simultaneously taking about all the shit he did.
Everyone is the hero of their own story. All these mob guys boast about how virtuous they were about sticking to the code... until they dont.
Y'all know who Neal Strauss is, right? The host of the show is a pretty famous writer. He was the writer for The Dirt which Netflix made a movie out of, he also "wrote" the Jenna Jameson autobiography, and then of course the infamous pick-up artist book, The Game.
Robert Evan’s touched on him a good bit in BTB episode on “The Sigma Male.” Seems like quite the guy.
Found this one called Firebug. Basically there were a bunch of arsons in Southern California in the early 90s and some dude wrote a book about an arsonist who sounded identical to the one they were trying to catch, and was shopping it around to publishers. Only 2 episodes out right now but solid so far
I already learned that apparently potato chips ate highly flammable and setting them on fire in grocery stores is a thing for arsonists
Listening to behind the bastards on elon musk The guest (sofiya alexandra) on this is the worst I've heard. Derailing the episode. Not all guests are good, but this one is making me want to stop listening. Hoping someone else shared the same thoughts.
Was she on the Zuckerberg episode as well by chance? They made Zuckerberg seem like a sympathetic character because the two women on it were just cackling at him for being an awkward nerd I kind of took a break from the podcast after that
I still listen but will shut it off if the guest isn’t great. I tend to stick more to the historical ones at this point. After thinking about it a little bit it allows Robert to drive the conversation more and guests get to play sidekick.
I'm going that route from now on This one was so bad that his sidekick (sofie?) felt the need to say "that was soo funny" when sofiya's jokes bombed... which was often. Sometimes she made them up as she went and Robert had to "yea" his way through to get back on track.
I think almost all the big ones are mediocre and way too similar. Roundball Rock I find hilarious and different than the rest, although the hosts are all Warriors guys if you can handle that.
The Lowe Post is the standard imo. I enjoy The Mismatch, but Chris Vernon isn’t for everyone, but I like Kevin O’Connor a lot. Chad Ford’s nba big board is decent draft fodder Brian Windhorst and the Hoop collective isn’t great but it’s content.
Anyone check out this one? About the red slippers being stolen from the Judy Garland museum? Heard it advertised on To Live and Die in LA. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/welcome-to-no-place-like-home/id1570685298?i=1000524125179
https://www.yourownbackyardpodcast.com/ Listening to this and it's pretty good, IMO. Did NOT like the guy doing it at first but he grew on me. It's satisfying because there seems to be some movement with the case directly related to the pod. It's crazy to juxtapose the two families, the Smarts vs Flores. Flores peeps have circled the wagons form jump street and the Smarts have people helping in every way they can. I get wanting to help your children but FUCK them Flores fuckers. I hope Paul rots in hell.
That was a good one. Total incompetence on the part of law enforcement. I was happy to see those new episodes pop up. Paul is a serious fucko.
Is there a good podcast that comes at crimes from the angle of the police rather than the perps? LPOTL always calls out police ineptitude when warranted but I’d be interested to hear how all this shit got botched Not surprisingly toxic masculinity and hostile work environments seems to have factored into a lot of it Also rejection of new methods
I feel like yes, but can’t remember what it was. I’ll have to do some thinking and looking. Definitely some mafia podcasts that contain mostly law enforcement sources.
This is Actually Happening is an enjoyable pod generally but the most recent one is crazy. It’s a dude who had a near death experience explaining his time while he was dead.
i've only been following this thread for the past month or so. i used to just listen to podcasts on the way to and from work, so I pretty much always had a constant stream of things to listen to. more recently i've been listening to them all the time. i'm to the point now where its difficult to find good content. i find its either amazing, or dogshit.
Office Ladies may be the most annoying podcast that I routinely listen to and idk why I keep listening.
