This is insanity… Max is in the racing line Max is ahead at the turn Max is hit from the back But somehow people twist themselves into thinking It’s a 50/50
Apparently the Hamilton/Mercedes defense is that Max needs to not be so aggressive. Which is fucking hilarious since he’s the one that forced the move
No this is exactly how Lewis is. He did this for years to Seb when he battling the Ferrari. And back then just like now the English media that covers this sport on TV will give every pass to Lewis.
Christian roasted Hamilton's ass in the post race interview. Doesn't change anything (wrt championship points) but I'm sure it felt good.
From my limited knowledge it looked like they were both trying to get to the apex from different lines. Lewis def drifted Max's direction and Max def turned into Lewis. Both were being aggressive and I'm guessing they each thought they were ahead of the other and expected the other to back off. But I dont know all the rules and decorum.
In most situations yes. But Lewis forced himself into this spot which makes it a whole different scenario
Because it's a turn to the right. Lewis drifting to the left on a right hand turn is not how right hand turns work. Max turning to the right, when he is almost the full length of his car ahead of Lewis, is how a right hand turn works.
So the inside car basically has to yield? So Lewis is supposed to slow down and make room or drift further inside to make room, possibly off track?
He’s supposed to be on the curb exactly like he did in passing Leclerc. Why is that hard to understand?
Cool your jets, Im just asking questions. I figured since they were basically even coming into the corner it could've gone either way. Plus its tough to get an unbiased opinion due to Lewis basically being the Patriots of F1
Just finished the race… goddamn. Hard to say anything that hasn’t already been stated. Lewis was at fault, but I don’t think it was intentional. Just happy that Verstappen is okay. I’m a big Lewis fan but hard to think the penalty was fair considering the title implications and Lewis still won the race. I also understand emotions are running high for him after the win, but I wish he would’ve shown a little more humility and concern for Max after the race.
Said it yesterday, I’ll say it again. When one person wrecks another which one effect ends one persons race while the other can go on to win, There’s not enough penalty for that person. I don’t think Lewis did it on purpose, I think he knew his only chance today was get ahead of Max within the first lap and a half. So he went balls to the wall. Lewis got deep into that corner, and he was significantly behind Max. To pretend he was wheel to wheel or whatever is just wrong. Max’s is pissed, and frankly I don’t blame him. That wreck a few seasons ago before the newer safety features could have been life threatening. 51Gs is insane
Because he didn’t apply his brakes in time, Max is already off the throttle to take the middle of the track while leaving enough room for a properly driving Hamilton to ride the curb and some.
Yeah Hamilton causing that and then running around and celebrating while showing zero remorse for putting max into the wall at 200mph if he doesn’t sit down with max and seriously apologize their relationship is over
Yeah Hamilton went all #blessed after the race, was pretty classless. The rest of the season should be pretty fun to watch, I'm sure Netflix is excited.
It’s bullshit but from a pure entertainment standpoint you couldn’t of asked for a better outcome. The championship tightens, we get some legit bad blood between the top two drivers, and Ferrari looks like they may be moving in the right direction. Still bullshit but it is tremendous content.
Not enough credit to Ricciardo for holding off Sainz for half the Grand Prix when Sainz continuously had DRS on him.
Charles also got the fuck out of it so he wouldn’t get hit just like Max. Charles is heard in the post race pointing out how he didn’t leave room on the inside and Lewis still forced his way in.
Feeling really down on F1 today sky sports can go fuck themselves with their favoritism towards Lewis. first race in a long time that I’ve turned off as it was still going.
I think it's hard to judge this when you're not in the car. And certainly from Lewis's camera angles it looked pretty benign. But I agree that penalty should have been at least a drive in 10 second. I think the stewards will get a lot of flak. That said, maybe people don't remember how dirty Schumacher was. He was always doing crazy s*** like this. Things were just much more wild west back then. Not making a value judgment just an observation that this was very innocent in comparison. I wish CL could have won.
I think the penalty was light… that red flag was more of the break Lewis needed. 10 seconds + front end change, he probably finishes in the points but not win the race.
All the Lewis and Max talk took Charles amazing drive to the backseat. Dude had the engine going off multiple times that race and still was two laps from taking a Ferrari that had no business winning a race this year to the end.
This race reminds me of why I became such a fan of Leclerc in the first place. Also, it seems like such an obvious statement but it’s incredible the difference tire compounds make between the cars even on a single track. The Ferrari’s legitimately had the pace of the Mercedes on the mediums and then Lewis was just smoking everybody on the hards. It’s absurd that Lewis pulled an almost five second gap on Leclerc in the two laps that he was ahead.
