If Climate Change was talked about in the 50s as much as it is today, you just know there would have been some amazing science-fiction short stories from guys like Ellison, Bradbury, Zelazny, Heinlein. Stuff like Venus being populated a long time ago by humans who ruined the planet and some refuges managed to escape and inhabit earth as its ice age ended, etc, only for the cycle to continue.
Sorry just saw this. There was rain all around but surprisingly they managed to get it off, low clouds but managed to see it for about 30 seconds or so.
I didn’t even go outside because I figured there was no way with how it looked outside. Cool they were able to light it
This is not great. Israel crash landed a craft into the moon, and now suspended, dormant bugs are on the moon, but are almost certainly still alive.
It’s of zero consequence outside of the spot where it crashed, it’s not like they can reanimate without water, and even if they can survive decades under most conditions the radiation will kill them off before anything happens there.
Errbody going to Venus https://www.esa.int/Science_Explora..._selects_revolutionary_Venus_mission_EnVision
Bad news: 6 years of space radiation doesn’t kill mice sperm. So your mom may need to get her stomach pumped if she wants to go to space. https://gizmodo.com/scientists-produce-healthy-mice-from-sperm-kept-in-spac-1847079246
This has got to be the first time in 30 years that somebody has gotten upset from a ‘yo momma’ joke. And it wasn’t even particularly funny or original. It did not even occur to me that you might take it personally, but I apologize. No harm was intended.
A guy in my basic training class got mad because I called his mom a whore but it turned out she had been so that was my bad
Its absolutely insane to think about the amount of massive storms and how big they are on Jupiter. Unreal. and to think our solar system, let alone Jupiter, isn't even the size of an atom compared to the universe...
That was my initial thought, but that would've actually been bad. Inspiring people to care about space and explore is a good thing, and having a massive disaster would not be great. Was really hoping he'd have a massive heart attack on the trip.
we woulda dealt with the negative PR after we sober up from the dead bezos celebrations. future us will figure out how to sell space exploration
Fair (though there was an 18 year old on that rocket, so he's totally innocent). I will say, I'm not sure how much these billionaire vanity trips are actually moving the ball forward.
excuse my (mostly) incurable optimism but could three successful private space launches in 9 days be something all Americans rally around together? four? five?
