which is why there’ll be a fire sale the last few days of the window and guys like Griezemann, Coutinho, Dembele etc will be given away for literally nothing
I'm guessing all of them would need to agree to a new contract because I'm pretty sure their wages are muy grande.
Barca would have to pay for coutinho to leave. There is literally not a club in the world who would pay a fee for him when he is on those wages
Amongst other things but yes, this specific situation is a result of ridiculous wages and over leveraging themselves to purchase many of these guys in the first place. In order to register Messi, Aguero, Memphis, Garcia etc they have to shed something like a quarter of a billion in wages of the books. Which is why somebody out there very well might be in line to get some ridiculous bargains come August 31st.
we have to go to arbitration to get more than a pittance for Harvey Elliott and you get 8 digits for some guy who specializes in loans to the Championship
Yup, but paying to get rid of those guys means they don’t realize as much financial benefit from getting rid of them, meaning they’ll have to move even more players. At this point, I wonder how many of their signings not named Messi they’ll be able to register at all.
They’ve been pretty adamant that they won’t and all of Barca’s moves this summer suggests they believe it
right but what I'm saying is maybe it's the type of thing where they want Barca to make a good faith effort but at the end of the day they won't nuke their whole season if they can't get their wages down all the way.
If they let Barcelona off, they first thing they’d do is take out another €100m short term loan and try and sign Haaland
you still have to convince the player to leave. Barcelona is an awesome city, one of the biggest clubs in the world and messi. It’s an easy sell when signing players but makes it harder to offload guys they don’t want. Maybe they get loans for some but I don’t see how they can cut the wages that it’s been reported they need to cut.
Hmmm, figured he’d have been a big fan of someone like van Nistelrooy or Harry Kane… Spoiler tap in merchants
the homegrown quota is a real issue for them, but spending 30M on a backup keeper to resolve seems drastic.
I’m gonna cling to hope that it’s bullshit because I’m not seeing anyone else in Arsenal Twitter with this
they've definitely been linked to him for a while and it was always going to take a big number to make it happen.
Has his star faded a bit? He was a really big name in the transfer market with some big fees a few years ago.
I think it has for sure. He’s never really moved past the inconsistency associated with young players.
Yeah, he's not great, but still young & capped for England. He's Leno insurance & fromwhat I understand the keeper we just promoted (& had a howler of a game in Scotland), is the real deal. He'd help bridge the gap. If we're spending £25M on him, then ££££ shouldn't be an obstacle for any of our other needs
