It was announced on Tuesday, July 20, that Refugio Manuel Jimenez and Angela Renee Jiminez have been charged with involuntary manslaughter relating to the El Dorado wildfire, as per The Sun. San Bernardino County District Attorney Jason Anderson announced the charges at a press conference, Buzzfeed News reports. The couple went on to plead not guilty to one count of involuntary manslaughter, three felony counts of recklessly causing a fire with great bodily injury, four felony counts of recklessly causing a fire to inhabited structures, and 22 misdemeanors of recklessly causing fire to property. They have now been released pending a court appearance on September 20. Watch a full news report about the charges below: The fire was started on September 5 last year when the Jimenez' hosted the party at their El Dorado Ranch Park in Yucaipa, which is located at the bottom of the San Bernardino Mountains. The couple announced the gender of their child with a smoke-generating pyrotechnic device that ended up igniting an area of dry grass when it was set off in a field. Authorities said that while the couple had initially attempted to put out the blaze with water bottles, the flames were too strong, and they eventually called 911. Firefighter Charles Morton was killed in the blaze, which went on to rage for months. Morton, 39, lost his life on September 17 when the leader of the elite Big Bear Interagency Hotshot Squad was working in a remote area where firefighters were cutting breaks became overwhelmed. Five homes were destroyed in the fire and 16 other buildings were damaged, as well as almost 36 square areas of land were left blackened. It took until November 16 for the blaze to be contained. The Sun reports that California saw a record-breaking wildfire season in 2020 that destroyed almost 10,500 buildings and claimed the lives of 33 people. Wildfires in the state have become increasingly difficult for authorities to tackle because of increasingly dry conditions in the state that are linked to climate change. No offense to anyone here that has a gender reveal party, but I think they are pointless and terrible. Do we need a party for every little thing?
We’ve never had one (and would never have one), but I get the appeal and wouldn’t call them pointless.
For sure and to each their own. I just think they are silly and silly pointless. Except for the one when the girl pussy farted the gender. I’m good with that one. yes I know it was a bit/joke
Not really to me. Seems like family celebrating. It’s these ones where all the college friends, family, neighborhood gets invited. Just seems like overkill. Glad these things weren’t a thing in my twenties and early 30s when most friends were having kids. I mean you going to have a baby shower or two anyway… why also have a reveal party? Just seems like too much to me.
I've been to one gender reveal. Now it was for someone who has more money than God so it was one hell of a party, but yeah, the whole thing where you invite the entire world is a bit much.
Yeah I have a family member that had 7 or 8 pre wedding parties the 5 months leading up to the wedding. All had a gift theme to bring too. That’s a big ask of people
I’ve never been to one, but for a close friend or family member I would certainly attend and have fun. They are just not for me
I'll add a caveat here. If it's a couple that doesn't have much and is trying to have a nice wedding, I can understand doing some of the things like a Stock the Bar party and so forth. But if it's just one big mult-party look at me bull shit...
they were a nurse and accountant that came from upper middle class families. Really no need to have a stock the tool shed party. Like do I really need to buy you this shovel?
I spent 95% of the party drinking Johnny Blue and playing dominos next to a world series trophy. At some point a baseball was hit and we found out it was a girl, but yeah... one hell of a party
Gender Reveal Causes Tennessee Schools To Lock Down A father-to-be celebrating his unborn child inadvertently sent multiple Middle Tennessee schools into lockdown on Wednesday (September 1). A family inside Murfreesboro city limits was on the phone with other family members to share the happy news that they are expecting a baby boy, News Channel 5 reports. According to Murfreesboro Police Department spokesperson Larry Flowers, the expectant father fired celebratory shots into the air around 1:30 p.m. while the mother screamed her excitement over the phone. The news, however, led one neighbor to call 911 after they heard shots and and a scream. Following reports of shots fired nearby, Rutherford County Schools temporarily locked down Oakland High School and Oakland Middle School out of precaution. Fortunately, the lockdown was lifted quickly and the schools could resume their normal schedules once police determined the cause of the shots. The father was issued a citation from officers for unlawfully discharging a firearm inside city limits. Gender reveal parties have become a common practice in the last few years, with expectant parents coming up with new and exciting ways to announce if they are having a boy or a girl. However, some reveals have gone too far and even led to disasters and death, including a party that sparked the deadly El Dorado wildfire in California last year.
We're just getting old. The one that confuses me is the engagement photos. Never head of that until maybe 10-15 years ago.
I went to school with a girl who had a baby the summer before 9th grade. Her mom also was an early mom, which made her a grandmother at like 30.
