I'll give them another chance but I tried to listen to their stuff on Zodiac, Jonestown, and GSK and they couldn't be any less funny if they tried
P sure Rogan has the largest podcast audience in the world. Although that audience surly will be less when he switches to be exclusively on Spotify
I was waiting to see what Rogan would have to say about this. Especially since his good buddy Alex Jones worked with Ali Alexander to organize this event.
Joe is really bad about stepping on jokes when he has funny comedians on. He did it about 25 times in the latest Tim Dillon episode
I haven't listened to Rogan in a long time but I'd love to hear the NDT interview. They kinda butt heads last time he was on and they def seem to have different opinions on the last couple years. Anyone listen to it yet?
I have not, and I dont plan on it. However back when JRE wasnt awful chud radio (or at least full on chud radio) one of the best moments was when it took NDT like 35 minutes to fully convince that idiot Rogan that the moon landing wasnt faked.
He also has utterly disgusting guests that are allowed to spew hate and misinformation to a very large audience with absolutely no pushback.
For sure and there should be push back when he does. However, I’m also ok with it. He can have whoever he wants. Sucks that some people believe anything his guest or show discuses. When shit is spewed it needs to be called out
This a pretty good way to look at it. I avoid any political guest he has. I will scan after like a month or two of not checking and find a scientist, Dr, or interesting celebrity and give it a shot. Probably only listen to like 2 or 3 episodes out of every 45
right but the fact that Rogan doesn’t push back is what makes him so terrible. Like when he had the piece of shit on discussing the gene that black people have that makes them more violent. He just goes “hmmm interesting“ rather than calling out a racist.
Watched a bunch of clips from the jeselnik pod a few days ago When discussing right wing comedians he didn't include himself. Incredible. He's very openly a reactionary but will understands he wants to not be seen that way.
I'm here to say most of the doctors he had on are absolute quacks. Last POS I heard he had on there is one of the guys spewing "ivermectin's a covid miracle cure" nonsense. Back to my point. Fuck Joe Rogan. His bullshit is injurious to society. Glad you find it entertaining
Look man if you don't like him, and if you don't enjoy any of his guests, that's cool. Don't listen. It's fine. Really. I'm not a big fan of him...but I have an hour commute to work, so his show is on the list of potential time wasters. I normally scroll through his list of shows and automatically pass over all of the shows with comedians and the MMA crap...but if he's got a guest that seems interesting I'll give it a shot. Then again I don't take everything I hear as gospel, especially if it's a podcast...and I can shrug off most things that I don't agree with without throwing a big fit.
Good for you. I hope you have a good filter for quality information. Because his science/medicine guests are usually absolute trash. I feel safe in assuming the same to be true, generally. I wish there were a way to hold him to account for the bullshit he spews to 10% of adult American men. His biggest demographic is also my biggest patient population, and when trying to debunk covid or random health bullshit that these patients believe, Rogan's guests come up not infrequently. Were it not for HIPAA, I could name off hand a fair number of just my patients who aren't vaccinated, and if not the sole reason, Joe Rogan's name at least came up in the discussion. And not by me. They should know better. But so should he, and he has 30m subscribers.
it’s insane how mediocre talent and ability will just randomly turn some humans into wildly wealthy people relative to their abilities
i feel like the biggest division in these threads might come down to the people who run into the ramifications of disinformation and nonsense science dissemination and those that don't
Right. And I wouldn't give a shit about Rogan's bullshit, like I didn't for the first 10 years or whatever of his podcast, were it not for his recently, demonstrably harmful interference with public health. Unfortunately, he's a chief source of bad health information in my patient population, so I have to know about wtf he talks about on his show.
The assumption all his listeners can’t think for themselves or listen to other viewpoints, weed out bad information and seek alternative sources of information beyond one podcast is a pretty bad take. I’m sure there are some that think his podcast is gospel, but to paint such a broad brush is silly. I don’t like the guy, but I can certainly find an interesting episode here and there and sometimes the guest does have some good info.
Did I say that? No. But I can say that a very large number of people let what they hear on his show weigh into their thoughts on some level. And you'd have to be pretty obtuse to deny it. Problem is that 1. He has decided to weigh in on public health matters recklessly, without qualification or consequence, and 2. He has tens of millions of listeners, most of whom believe at least some of what he says.
