I remember at one point LaGuerta gets killed. Which is cool because I won't have to listen to her blather on
The original series should have ended with Dex on a table not unlike his own receiving lethal injection for his crimes.
What is the closest Dexter came to getting killed in the original series. When Travis Marshall aka Doomsday Killer leaves him floating miles from shore and sets the ocean on fire around him?
Dexter anywhere but Miami seems way out of place. I’m hoping something brings him out of hiding and forces him back knowing he won’t make it out alive, Walter White style.
I don’t like how the trailer sets up the entire series to take place in this new town. It could be all an episode one misdirection thing where he goes through these things and it sends him back to Miami for the remainder, but I’m not holding my breath.
Spoiler: Just watched episode 1 Idk if these are spoilers, but didn't want to take chances. I miss the Dexter intro and the little ambient music throughout the episode and will need to get used to the new setting, but I liked the episode. Feels pretty Dexter and the outro is OG, so maybe that's a start of the themes coming back. I'll comment more as more of you watch it.
Is this actually worth watching? Definitely wasn’t expecting to see a 9.5 on IMDb. edit: didn’t realize only one episode has been released so far.
agree on the setting being weird and taking some time getting used to . Miami as the setting was a major part of the show
Some thoughts: Spoiler - Thought the first episode was a nice intro back into the character. - Agree on the overall tone being weird. Hopefully they pivot back to the old style, music and intro. Its too classic to not use it again. - Harrison was around 4/5 when the series ended? Maybe older? This is 10 years after the fact so Harrison would be a teenager, so its possible.
I guess I don’t remember the end of the series too well, weren’t his killings exposed and authorities were after him?
No, I am pretty sure it was just Laguarta who found out and then obviously Deb knew. Then there was Hannah who was also a killer, and eventually who he gave Harrison to. Then it all came to an end with the hurricane that hits miami in the final episode.
That was crazy when they brought back Sergeant Doakes. I mean a bit far fetched to think he could live in pieces on a river bottom with alligators but compelling nonetheless
Here is one thing I keep coming back to with regards to this new series. These episodes were created and are being run by the original show runner. He was the one that ran the show for the first 4 seasons when it was well done and a huge hit. He eventually left the show because Showtime wanted to milk it dry and he didn't want to. Hopefully with him running things it gets back on track and finds an entertaining balance.
Doing a rewatch before starting this. Just finished S4 Trinity is just a great character. And the last 3-4 episodes are some of the most intense I've ever seen. The Thanksgiving episode
Really enjoyed the first episode. Interested to hear… Spoiler if Hannah is still alive and how Harrison found Dexter.
Angel mentioned a detective Debra Morgan was huge in cracking the Trinity Killer case. She was killed.. her brother too. That he had a cute kid... what was his name??? Oh yeah Harrison. Pretty easy to connect that together imo.
Also - I feel pretty dumb because i thought all this was happening in Alaska. Didnt realize it was NY until this episode
