Oh thank God. As Rutgers fan, I’ve grown too accustomed to the good life to go back to associating with the poors
Lick your new daddy’s elephant skin boots, buddy. Just because they won that game (which I do remember!) doesn’t mean they were a national brand. I specifically remembering as a young thinking where is Alabama and how is this a thing?
Clearly you’re old money. We as new as new money gets. After scrapping with schools like USF and Connecticut over a dead rat carcass in the defunct big east/AAC, we more than happy to eat the hamburger the B1G serves us and shut up about it. Enjoy your steak tho.
That was a penalty for the entire conference because it came with a TV ban. Even schools not on probation couldn’t be televised when they played schools who were.
for now yeah, but the sec will make significantly more long term if the B1G doesn’t make a similar move
Hahaha. You must have me confused with the Ags. I am not defending Bama. Your whole post was laughable. Thirty years ago Miami, Nebraska, FSU, Penn St, OU among others were all national brands along with ND. College gameday had been airing for years so there was plenty of national coverage for all these teams.
Can’t wait to be with my EMAW brothers is sports. EMAW To THe Top will be our slogan. It’s southern Miss to the top by the way. Just in case you didn’t know. Just prepping y’all for the new rivalry
they can’t. They are playing as Russian Olympic Committee cause Russia is banned. It may affect realignment though. Situation is fluid
We just had six pages of posts from folks who never heard of Alabama’s 1992 title, so not taking anything for granted.
There’s not really a move in the next few years that will do anything. That said, as a fan I really don’t care too much if our athletic department’s conference is first or second in per school revenue. Of course, it’s easy to say that when my school is good regardless, so I do sympathize with your plight a bit.
Remember the time their Heisman candidate QB led team of 4 and 5 star players lost to an unranked walk-on that went by “Corndog”
or when Ron Prince called a WR pass and a half back pass on back to back plays to score a touchdown and ultimately ruin their chances at a title or when he beat them again the following year in Austin by scoring two non offensive touchdowns
Or when Kansas beat them for their only conference win in 2016. It’s not going to be quite the same when powerhouse SEC teams like Vanderbilt or Kentucky beat them
R1 doesn’t really mean shit seeing as all 14 SEC schools are R1. Hopefully they keep Bama at Texas on the schedule for next year. My wife had already made a list of 3-4 houses that we were looking at renting for that one.
I think there’s some nuance to how the revenue sharing worked and was implemented, and when/how it was changed. The article linked has more info than the Texas fan tweet, but it’s from the Big12 site. sorry if this has already been addressed.
