My youngest brother, less than a month before attending pharmacy, school got a finger smashed between two giant pieces of steel & had to be rushed to the local hospital (thank god goat small-town Osmond has one) & the doctor worked under a specialist of the hand & knew how to reattach it from it’s hanging slumber. I think that’s every coach. Nobody wants to give you the secrets to their successes… Frost shouldn’t even have anything to keep secret though. We’ve put enough film on tape.
Yeah a lot of the stuff Frost does wouldn’t be that bad if he was winning because it’s just how most coaches operate. Issue is they’re not even close to winning and it comes off like he thinks that stuff is why. I guess he did say he intends to release starters/depth chart much earlier this season. We’ll see if that’s true, and it shouldn’t matter but maybe it can help some of these guys know where they stand rather than the multiple positions that usually have 1A-1G on the depth chart.
It’s just a sad state when you think of the talent level of this team. If fans thought the end of Pelini/Riley eras were bad, oh boy.
I think coach grandpa was the only one of the last 3 who didn’t give a shit and let media watch more than stretches. A lot of coaches are paranoid about opponents getting a leg up but at the same time if you are a team with an identity no one will be surprised by you running your bread and butter plays. if you can actually execute it doesn’t matter if you tell the D what you are running, you will still gain yards. I remember years back when USC was in town and Pete Carrol was just like “fuck it open practice at westside high school.” I even remember clips of full plays being shown on the Omaha news.
What sucks is, for as bad as the Frost era has been, they’ve hung around with teams at times. Enough to where you could say there SHOULD have been a couple wins without sounding like a homer. Just off the top of my head games they realistically could have won: - Colorado 2018 and 2019 - Northwestern 2018 and 2020 - Iowa 2018, 2019, 2020 - Purdue 2019 - Minnesota 2020 (lol) Yes there could have been some more Ls too, but what I’m saying is they’ve been close enough to where it shouldn’t be that hard to take the next step with a small improvement in talent and better coaching. Issue is coaching has remained suspect, and recruiting is looking Solich level right now, so I just don’t know where this thing goes. I hope it doesn’t get bad enough to where the new facilities can’t even provide a little spark to recruiting. Frost and most of these ACs are a joke, but as fans we have to hope they figure it out or at least luck into some wins because there’s not going to be much left to sell to recruits anymore.
We are heading into year 4 and we’re probably letting a walk on RB get the bulk of the carries. Ridiculous at any program. Absolutely inexcusable at Nebraska.
