Depends how teams in front of us view their cap situation. Sometimes those teams will move back to have less cap hold for the picks value. I wouldn't be shocked if we package multiple picks together to move up
I am sure it could, but I thought I read something today that a lot of teams picking early in the second don’t even want to make the picks. Might hurt the market if true.
Edwards keeps writing that he expects us to do that. I don't think we're going to draft 4 players tonight. I really hope we don't just sell picks, though. Trading a pick for a future 2 (or several of them) makes sense to me.
That was my thought: trade picks tonight for future picks, even at the expense of moving up into the first round. We're going to have a lot of guys on rookie deals already and delaying adding more until next year or later makes more sense than giving them away or turning them into a guaranteed contract.
I want us to take our full time on the clock because I know how it feels when other teams do it, and I want those fans to feel the rage
Knowing ESPN and Detroit draft history, they'll probably cut to comerical as soon as we make the pick.
You think Kendrick Perkins likes Cade? On espn he just said he's best overall well rounded prospect since LeBron, said he will immediately come in and average 25/5 and in a couple years will be a giannis like player who will win you 50 plus games by himself. I really like cade and I'm even like, whoa slow down Perkins
Given our recent (20 or so years) history of picking in the top 2 I can confidently say we win 50 next year and probably the title
How does Plumlee have a negative trade value? Solid back up on a reasonable contract, not like he's Blake with $60 million+ owed to him
I had to read that a few times. We’re dropping 20 spots to dump his contract? I thought he played well last year.
We're running into a roster/cap space crunch this year, but I'm not sure why we have to trade a pick to get rid of him.
Plumlee is a back up center who makes $8M+ this year and next (half of that is guaranteed) for his age 31 and 32 seasons at a time when the league values centers less than any other position. It's not a good contract.
I'm not sold this is about cap space this year. Still seems possible we could pick up Joseph's option for $12M and basically be at or over the cap. It does free $4-8M in room for next summer, which is when the beat writers say we're targeting doing stuff.
That's more on the Blake contract than anything. Then adding the #1 pick contract this year. Blake contract is done after this year right?
Maybe he’s totally full of shit, but Cade’s desire to be in Detroit seems genuine. This franchise absolutely needs that right now, more than anything else.
