ugh so this is going to be 6 degrees of separation where he actually created the hook up with Ally and her future boo
Just watched tonight and had to look up the real life cypher after to confirm I wasn’t just making that up in my head.
I really liked the last three episodes. I’m totally enjoying the more realistic miserableness. Also the song was really solid, so I’m think this is going to springboard him into better material.
Last episode I had to go back and watch the XXL Freestyle, this week I had to go back and watch the “Molly” music video.
In the first episode of this season my wife thought it was a different actor playing him. She's probably racist
I did not expect to get tears from a Dave episode. Ending killed me. That was awesome. Also, I don’t really follow his music, but is he going to be putting out an album now? Seems like he has a bunch of new material that he shared the last two weeks…or does the music from the show just remain as fictional Dave first album music?
the music from the show isn’t going on an album. he said he hasn’t even focused on writing music for 2+ years but now that the show is over he’s gonna take some time to relax and get back to music
His normal music definitely has a comedy aspect to it, but a lot of the music in the show was insanely weird compared to his real life music, context wise. The actual flow/style was similar at times though.
Did you watch the ep? Gata’s mom calls him Dave, which is short for his real name Davionte. I’m not saying the theory he’s the main character is correct, but the name thing doesn’t matter.
GaTa getting on the VMAs got me good. I’m still curious why they don’t use some of the mixtape stuff on the show. Like that stupid Sky Hooks knockoff when they could have just used the real thing.
Read a Rolling Stone interview done just before the finale, he says season 3 (as of now) is intended to be hilarious where 2 was not. So that’s exciting. He also said he wants his album out before S3 so that’s great news.
Maybe I missed it, but it seems like he went from no songs to album release without anything being brought up in the story about it being worked on significantly.
I think the implication was that after his trip to Rubin's house he got over writer's block and knocked it out relatively quickly
Binged both seasons this week. Loved it. Laughed hard at times and ally's song hit me hard. Great show.
I have always, always been Team Fuck Ells. Dude is straight up no fun. Second season was all over the place. Lots of great moments, lots of weird-outs that I don’t think really landed, but the prevailing emotion for me through the entire season was just rabid anxiety. Not nearly as many laughs as season 1 but obviously that was at least partly the point? The ending was phenomenal. The Doja Cat episode was really good. Dave’s Dad breaking the ice in that sad moment by confessing that his favorite color is tan killed me. The Chuck episode was weird as fuck and I probably will actively avoid ever watching it again. Thought it odd how little actual music there was in this season. I get that writer’s block was the central theme, but it seems like at least they would have infused at least a little bit of music before like the second-to-last episode. All that being said, stoked for Season 3.
Anyone else disappointed in the released version? Foremost, GaTa had less of a role in this version and second most, they added absolutely nothing versus the show version.
