Ive seen it and don’t see how it could be. Basically these fish creatures when dry turn into humans when the cone land and associate with locals, if the get wet on land they show their fish selves again.
No. Unless you think being accepting of people for who they are is pro-trans, but in the context of the main characters? No
The metaphor is kinda messy, but I think you can definitely make an argument about it being about the LGBT experience. I've also seen people make arguments about it being about immigration. Either way it's a delightful movie.
80 percent of people like your brother are suffering from mental illness, in my very non professional opinion.
I didn’t catch any of that when I was watching it. I thought it was just an updated version of the little mermaid. It’s really good. Highly recommend with the kiddos. Vivo on Netflix as well.
My Spotify playlist for the year is going to be dominated by Italian 1970s pop songs. My 2 and 5 year old both demand "Luca songs" when we get in the car.
I hate that we still stigmatize mental health issues. These people might be dealing with these issues but saying it like this is an insult to those that struggle every day with them.
No doubt, but it can’t be ignored that among the most susceptible people to things like this are the mentally ill.
Don’t want to derail the thread but it’s complicated and these people in these videos like the one posted here don’t seem to be suffering with mental health issues they just seem like assholes. Saying “look they believe this crazy bullshit so they must have mental health issues” is fucked up they could just be dumb racist assholes.
they can certainly be dumb but it seems like generally they are average to above average intelligence Aum Shinrikio in Japan had like rocket scientist, biochemist, and more nerds because the cult was created to appeal to them mostly The language and the difficulty of understanding Scientology also seems to recruit some smarter people
this is what I think the issue is. It seems like the majority of people are “left behinds” that had personal issues they blamed on the others.
I think people who glom onto Q and paranoia based conspiracies in general are way more likely to be paranoid schizophrenics than the average human. No shame in that diagnosis. But it fits ya know.
I don't know anything about theconversation.com https://theconversation.com/many-qanon-followers-report-having-mental-health-diagnoses-157299 then again https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/...anon-followers-have-high-rates-mental-illness
I disagree especially with the videos that they show like the latest one posted itt. Again I think stigmatizing individuals with true mental health issues because of these assholes is tucked up. These people just look like stupid racist assholes or grifters.
mental illness as explanatory is insufficient and stigmatizing to people with mental illness probably avoid doing it en masse as other sub clinically worrisome issues predict conspiratorial thinking better thank you for attending my ted talk
you’re taking her word for that. And if she really does hear that it’s one person out of hundreds there. I guess maybe I should have been clear I meant I think Q followers are stupid.
Is a it fair to state that anyone that would murder their children or a family member in the name of Q has a mental illness?
no. Just because someone does something stupid or evil it doesn’t mean they have a mental illness. That’s the problem and the reason so many don’t seek help because they are lumped in with individuals they shouldn’t be lumped in with. The majority of people with legit mental health issues aren’t violent. Could he have one idk maybe but the act in and of itself doesn’t mean he does.
Yeah that whole wanting to find a place to fit in thing where they can all be racist and dumb together in their clubhouse.
It's hard to say now because of how splintered things are with Q not posting in 8 months but early on a lot of people who were big into Q seemed like they had had some kind of serious trauma in their lives One of the Q podcasts had some guest talking about how trauma can make people more susceptible to cults
That's all I read about it before I saw it. Then, as I'm watching it, I kept asking myself where all the LGBTQ stuff was. Good movie, but it was about friendship. There wasn't a romance/love aspect at all.
Obviously an over simplification but for the vast majority it is mental weakness not mental health. They cannot accept that they are responsible for what their life is/has become, which is pure weakness - and so they blame it on invisible forces and immigrants, and worship a man who embodies all that weakness in the most grotesque ways.
there are plenty of people with perfectly good lives and seemingly healthy relationships with family and friends that still fall into this stuff.
I don't understand the need to put them in the crazy bin or the dumb bin. I get that makes it easier to understand but I don't think it's useful
It’s definitely not like they all have mental illness as Daniel Ocean says that’s unfair to people with mental illnesses I think Paddy Murphy is much closer to the crux of it
Just saw a "vaccine for pedos" bumper sticker with various types of ammunition depicted below the slogan. Would have snapped a picture but the driver is almost definitely armed and probably prone to do reckless shit
