I lurk on an organized crime/mafia forum a few times a week, pretty much just parroting stuff from there. Some people follow this stuff the way people here follow college football.
Raab did an incredible job with that book. I wouldn't waste my time with the memoirs of guys who have every reason in the world to exaggerate their exploits and justify their actions.
Apparently the feds got a mob induction ceremony on tape and they outlined the entire organization. That's really bad news for the wiseguys even if there wasn't any violence associated with the charges.
Truman I'm reading that Family Secrets book. I mentioned that to my dad and he said he was friends and worked with Joey Aiuppa's nephew, and that a cigarette machine company near his neighborhood was once bombed by the Outfit. I also thought it was interesting they bombed the Drury Lane theater on Oakbrook Terrace in the 1980s.
So Sammy the bull Gravano is starting his own podcast. Listened to the first ep today and it’s very good if you’re into this sort of thing. Touches on the Big Pauly hit as well as the FBI raid on the Ravenite. Can’t wait for episode 2, so if anyone finds out when that’s going to be, please post it here
No it is beyond terrible, E from Entourage directed it which should say enough. The Armand Assante HBO one is the best.
It got a lot of hype locally because it was filmed here (Cincinnati). And then it came out and won an award for worst movie or some shit
Interesting that Gravano didn't mention the Decicco bombing was farmed out to Casso/Amuso by Gigante and whoever detonated the bomb mistook the other guy for Gotti. I'm skeptical that it took months to determine it was Gigante that ultimately ordered the bombing, no one else would've stepped up outside of some Castellano loyalists but Gigante would've been the ultimate backer regardless.
I enjoyed the Mobbed Up podcast about some of the Las Vegas mob activity. They have some guys who lived it on both sides in the show. https://www.reviewjournal.com/podcasts/mobbedup/ I’m sure McMillions has been discussed, but it’s a fun watch on the lighter end of the organized crime spectrum. https://www.vulture.com/2020/02/mcdonalds-monopoly-game-fraud-true-story.html
Sounds like something that would happen to Little Paulie and the dyslexic guy. It's tough being a mob guy in the 21st century with cameras everywhere. https://www.justice.gov/usao-edny/p...nized-crime-family-pleads-guilty-arson-queens
https://www.youtube.com/c/MOBFAX/videos Great channel with tons of mafia related news clips, surveillance, interviews, etc
Anyone been listening to Sammy the Bull’s podcast? It’s been pretty great, so far. Season 2 premiered yesterday and it’s the setup and backstory of the hit on Paul Castellano. Season 1 released a new episode every week, so hopefully part 2 will be released next week
Thoroughly enjoyed season 1. Thankful for the benevolent Sammy who is the greatest person in the world according to everyone he’s ever met, apparently
I always lol at how he always handles every single situation perfectly and everyone around him is always blown away by him and tells him so. Great storytelling nonetheless
I love Our Thing. I hadn’t really read or heard much about Sammy prior, so I was surprised to hear he thought Gotti was a fuck. Seems that the usual line is that Sammy was his guy. I guess not quite.
Assuming Gravano is telling 100% of the truth in any story is pretty naive. He certainly would've been a better boss than Gotti in terms of drawing less attention (much more low key and wouldn't have essentially given the FBI the middle finger) but he's a perpetual liar.
Al Capone’s family is auctioning 175 personal items from his estate on 10/6/21, including various photos, watches, and letters. https://witherells.com/
I'm pretty sure there are clips of him telling the same story in 4-5 different ways/outcomes. Either way, he's lived and seen some shit.
I got Jacuzzi and Yakuza confused once. Now I’m in hot water with the Japanese mafia. Edit: love this thread
When you die do you want us to mention you were a loving father and husband on your tombstone? No way babushka, show the Benz and the track suits, my true loves.
The Gold Club stories must've been crazy, there's a few in the Simmons story http://grantland.com/features/idiots-guide-to-gold-club-trial/
Lol what's with the stereo image of that video. Some of the voices come out of only the right and some out of only the left.
It's local news clips from the 90s I'm not sure how they were originally recorded or anything. Old mob news reports/discussions are awesome to listen to
