Don’t care if he’s been “cleared” or not, I’m still not a fan of Art Briles showing up at our practices and occasionally coaching them. He was there today. Yeah I realize his son is here but let him be someone else’s problem. Having KB is bad enough
I think we might be looking at the next OC and next HC. I look for him to take over as OC for a while until Sam decides to move on. Looks like he’s already recruiting well so that’s a plus. I also don’t like having Art around and at the same time how is that allowed? He’s basically coaching KJ as another assistant almost. Is he working in a “GA” or unpaid assistant role?
I don’t know that he even has any official role. He was just there “visiting” but was working with a couple groups yesterday. Wouldn’t be surprised if they tried to make it some advisor or analyst role
bertwing texted me this and I got excited and then we max bet Arkansas reg season wins over 5.5 Gallant Knight you gonna join us?
Hey Guys, I'm looking for some Arkansas advice for a trip my wife and I are taking in October. We'll be going through Arkansas as part of a road trip and staying a couple nights in Hot Springs and a couple nights in the Rogers/Fayeteville area. Any recommendations for things to do as we go through Little Rock, Hot Springs, or NW Arkansas would be great as well as any food recommendations if you've got them.
Fayetteville is a cool ass town. Hang out on Dickson during a game weekend. Mermaids, Bordinos & Atlas are my favorite dinner spots. Breakfast I like Southern Food Company or Eclectic Kitchen. Lunch I'd prolly go wings at Foghorns or Hugo's. JJs is a good sports bar and US pizza has dope thin crust & salads. Hot Springs has a trashy horse track with table games & sports book Woo pig Edit: Wright's BBQ is legit af
I live and work on LR and my in-laws have a house on Lake Hamilton so I go down there pretty frequently as well. My advice is to keep to yourselves and don’t go anywhere that is in-doors because the people in this state are absolute dipshits and they will give you Covid. Hope that helps!
I hate it when people recommend Herman’s it’s so overrated but tbf ive only gone on game weekends when it’s busy af
Rather recommend Hugo’s. Herman’s is only considered good because of its nostalgia. It’s just served mediocre food for a long time.
hey let’s be quirky and give you great value crackers with salsa and a blow pop derek’s chicken sandwich and fries from Hugo’s :boner:
have had a lot of fun drinking outside hermans when it's 40 degrees and you're waiting 90 minutes for a table. agree the food is mediocre but so is most of the food in fayetteville
Honestly, go to Catfish Hole in Fayetteville if you want some good ass Arkansas food. It’s straight up fried catfish and all the fixings and legit ass probably the best local cuisine there is. Mont Ne Chicken as well. http://www.monteneinnchicken.net/
Wright’s BBQ in Johnson (just outside Fayetteville) or in downtown Bentonville is like having angels jizz in your mouth. Make sure to try it. Crystal Bridges in Bentonville is a cool art museum to visit, and The Hive is a nice upscale place to eat… but there’s a ton of great food options in Bentonville. Rogers there is Top Golf, the Walmart AMP for concerts, and a decent outdoor mall. Lots of golf courses in the area. JJ’s is a cool little bar that has some pretty good food and some awesome drink specials. Happy minutes where you can get $1-$2 domestic pints and half priced apps. Me and Tobias ate like 7 apps and drank for hours and the tab was still only like $60 when he came through a couple years ago. I’m not as big on Foghorns. It’s fairly average, but is cool to go to before Hog Baseball games in Fayetteville because it’s just behind Baum stadiums right field fence. Springdale is ass. Avoid it at all costs. Slim Chickens is good fast food chicken tenders and wings with a bunch of dipping sauces. I eat there like twice a week and it’s a problem. You gotta hit Dickson St a Friday or Saturday night. Large bar district in downtown Fayetteville near campus. They have a badass food truck park now too. Don’t get in a fight with Yancy the hot dog guy. It didn’t work out well for one of our baseball players. I just realized I’ve mentioned like 12 food places and now I’m getting hungry.
Hot Springs: Bathhouse Brewing has decent to good beer depending on your taste and some solid food. DeLuca's has amazing pizza but it's a good idea to call/book ahead, because they only make so much pizza dough for the day and your reservation is for the dough, not a seat, technically. Maxine's and Ohio Club are other notable establishments. Little Rock: Lost 40 and Flyway have good beer and food. Flyway was on DDD if you're a Guy's guy. I don't really have any must hit restaurants but there's good food from Mexican to Indian to burgers/catfish around the city. Fayetteville: I always have to rec Green Submarine if you like a good sub sandwich. Fossil Cove is the brewery in Fayetteville. Ozark Beer Co is the best brewery in the state and it's not that close imo, they're in Rogers just north of Fayetteville. Natural State has more old world style beers, New Providence has good beer but haven't been to their brewery.
Catfish Hole is solid but doesn’t serve alcohol so it’s hard for me to go there a lot. Always love try to go there before hog basketball games and then crush some bourbon or beers in the parking lot before I walk into arena.
If those Bible beaters served beer it would skyrocket up my list, elite hush puppies I don’t like foghorns by Baum bc on game weekends they have limited menu but I like the other ones
It’s fucking good and provides me the most nostalgia of any restaurant in NWA… I just need my booze too
Actually the wings I like are one of their spiciest and aren’t on game day menu. you just like trashy Buffalo sauce
It’s from Reservation Dogs on FX. Good new show about reservation kids in OK. Love catfish. https://www.the-mainboard.com/index.php?threads/reservation-dogs-taika-waititi-comedy-hulu.182168/
It was Friday night before the game at the JJ's off Weddington. Definitely agree on them being a solid spot for a B&G option
I remember Hoss Bonaventure showing up to the tailgate drinking moonshine from a milk jug or something. What an animal
One of my all time favorites for drinks and bar food. My brother still eats there at least once a week.
Kool-aid, which he didn't inform me at the time was laced with fun drugs. Otherwise I would have taken him up on his offer for a swig.
I thought he was just some random drunk jacked weirdo looking for a fight when he walked up and I was going to have to protect our husker guests
You two getting together would be bad fucking news Cheeking handfuls of molly, chugging gallons of LSD laced moonshine/everclear/kool aid concoctions, and eating handfuls of THC gummies, shitting your pants, pissing all over yourselves in the trough urinals, etc
We had indoor club seats and it was all I could do to try and act “normal” around all the people. Probably wouldn’t have freaked out as much if I was in the stands but having a bunch of olds clapping and calling the hogs in an enclosed area was intense. I went home and went into full “cocoon” mode on the couch and had to bail on going out with the Husks.
I drove through Springdale and Harrison on the way to Gaston's last week, and fellas, your state sucks ass.
