Yeah I'm really into a handful of their songs. CTownND's aforementioned Not is probably my favorite of theirs.

UFOF was the worst but they have some bangers for sure. “Mary” is probably my favorite just due to how it was recorded

Much better than Weezer’s “Enter Sandman” cover.

I saw Modest Mouse and The Districts last night. Definitely a weird experience going to a show for the first time since February 2020. I would say 60-70% of the people were masked, but dealing with the others was a bit frustrating in terms of respecting your space. The show was good, not great. They sounded excellent, but the setlist could have been a lot better, IMO. I understand a lot of bands don't love to play the hits, but I just feel being away as long as most bands have been, that it would be a good time to be a little more heavy handed with them.

No issues with that stuff. It actually sounded great, although Never Fuck a Spider on the Fly didn't work like I thought it might. For example (and I don't need all of the hits), they didn't play...

    Float On
    MIssed the Boat
    Lampshades On Fire
    The World At large

yet from those same albums or even older they played...
    Education
    The Devil's Workday
    Broke
    Cowboy Dan (which was good)
    Guilty Cockerspaniels
    King Rat
    etc.

This was the setlist. On the positive they played more songs than they have been playing elsewhere and the Encore was 7 songs.

100%, like I said the new stuff comes off great in concert and I like the album, so no complaints. It is more about pulling out the more obscure songs from old albums where they had significant hits that they didn't play from those same albums. You go to Spotify and they pass over a song with 60 million plays for one with 2 million.

When in the first 4 songs you get Dramamine and 3rd Planet, and two solid new songs I was pretty excited. Then it hit a lull.

my old venue just announced a spoon concert the same night spoon is supposed to be playing in Des Moines. the Omaha tickets are $30 cheaper, and nobody has made an announcement about a cancellation or reschedule or the show being moved. I think there’s some ~*~drama~*~ that’s about to happen

Listening to Gin Blossoms' "New Miserable Experience" LP. What an incredible record. Saw an indie band the other day tweet about how every band in 2022 is going to try to sound like the Gin Blossoms, and now I fucking get it

so is there an undercurrent of Gin Blossoms influence in the indie scene now or is that band just trying to speak it into existence?

So I was watching Halt and Catch Fire last night and they had two songs in there that were recognizable. Don't remember the first but the second was definitely Pavement, which was some nice nostalgia. Never got into the Gin Blossoms that much.

I saw them play last year at a small club before pandemic actually. There wasn't much indie about it. Complete fan service for the 40s crowd. They warmed up with a random number or two, then the singer announced "We will now perform the album New Miserable Experience in its entirety." Kind of a surreal experience, you tune out and it's like you're listening to a cover band but you're like "man this guy sounds just like the guy from the Gin Blossoms CD"

I remember owning the gin blossoms cd in high school, but I think my dislike of hearing 'hey jealousy' so much on the radio at the time overshadowed any enjoyment I might have had of other songs on the album

It's really good, in the last season sadly. Kind of like Sudeikis said, paraphrasing, you need to know enough about boxing to watch Rocky as you need to know about soccer to watch Lasso. I don't know everything about IT but it's kind of how I came up working and it makes it all the merrier.

It had like 10 songs. 4 or 5 were the huge radio hits. The other half were the filler songs. All within a tight shotgun pattern

on the bright side though it's one of the rare shows that peaks in the last half of the final season, one of the main reasons I hold it in such high regard
