PSA: you can buy any triangle cleat off Amazon to fit those Nike shoes. They don’t have to be the Nike specific ones.

How thin are those Nike shoes? Biggest reason I’ve been hesitant to order.

I like my mtn bike shoes but they’re not delta compatible. Left shoe is super tight compared to right shoe. I could just buy some spd pedals and solve my problems but Is like to have a different pair of shoes for each is all. My mtn bike shoes are disgusting to have inside the house.

this is considered an indoor cycling shoe, could it be used outside or does that really need to be different?

the clips are honestly what matter most. You could use them outdoors or indoors because they fit both clip styles. My outdoor bike has hybrid clips so I use shimano indoor it’s delta. Long boring answer to get to; yes you can use them in or out depending on the clips you use.

well that was a 516 ride and less than a month later, just got 557 for new 45 PR. Insane to see some of the 700+ numbers though. One guy passed me on the leaderboard and he was at 95 resistance, 70 cadence. How in the world?

Potential buyer checking in…is bike+ with the premium? And how about shoes? Just get cages, peloton brand, some other compatible brand?

I have the regular bike and don’t miss any of the features from the plus based on my setup, but others may disagree with me.

Shoes are entirely personal preference as long as they are compatible with delta cleats. I have a pair of Specialized. I do not recommend the cages if you’re going to be serious about riding.

Also, make sure to get someone’s referral code here if you do buy.

One more question…is the financing offered through Peloton truly 0%? I was planning on paying the total up front, but if it’s truly no risk to doing payments over time, I’d prefer that route. Is there a catch?

I love the bike+. The automatic resistance change is actually great and keeps me accountable to the rides. My gf does a lot of things off the bike and loves the swivel monitor so while not truly necessary, it’s is a nice feature.
There is also just an overall bump up in build quality that I do appreciate.

I like the auto resistance changes too on the bike+. The swivel monitor is also an added bonus even though its a pain with how the handle bars are.

David Puddy just to add to this I have the regular bike but put the swivel on the screen and it has been a game changer for off the bike stuff.

Do the bike or app have the option to cast the non bike workouts to a tv? I’m not seeing the value in a swivel screen to do non-bike workouts if I can view them on another screen somewhere else in the house.

yes. You can cast from the app and I believe from the screen too. The way I have my set up it works better for me to be able to move the screen. I used to use my old iPad but the battery life is so bad I would drain it after less than an hour. It’s a personal preference thing.

I bought a cheap ass 42” tv on prime day for the non bike workouts. We haven’t swiveled the screen on the bike+ at all, but love the autochange resistance.

About 11 minutes into a Rock ride from about 3 months ago I took today (starts with an Incubus song and ends with Foo Fighters and 1975 songs), Emma gives a shoutout to “Phil McCracken.” I thought she got the joke, but ends up I think she was dead serious

A mix of like very tall college athlete types and bikes that are not correctly calibrated. My friend used someone else's bike on vacation and was like I did half my normal energy on the ride and got a PR so there are a lot of issues there. When I see some guy who claims to be in his 60s on there putting up stats like that I'm extremely skeptical.

Week 2 of marathon training kicked off today. I’m doing this “Road to your 26.2” program and liking it so far but hate that it’s not hosted on the tread. Instead it’s all audio.

I really enjoy running with Matt, Becs, and Robin, so this is going to be a fun 18 weeks.

I am becoming addicted. It’s to the point I worry about vacations. For those of you that have used the outdoor running training…

Is it an out and back set up where they recommend a point to return?

I hate running, but before peloton I hated cardio. I have this stupid fear where I will go Forrest Gump and just keep running and have nothing in the tank for return. I just want to find a way to do my best to maintain when away from the bike and also spare myself the discovery I am a dipshit in execution.

So from what I’ve read, only bike+ has Apple Watch integration? If so, is there an easy way to link an Apple Watch to the original bike for heart rate tracking?

I have both and unfortunately you can’t link your Apple Watch to the bike to use as an HR monitor. I use it as an HR monitor but the stats don’t show on my bike like they would on the bike+ .

Ah ok, maybe they just measure their HR/workout via the Apple Watch and health app. I figured it somehow linked to the peloton and it’s own ride stats.

yeah that’s what it does and in reality if you have Strava and peloton linked to your health app you don’t even need to wear your watch while working out it will still log the workout. I wasn’t wearing my watch yesterday when I worked out.

Has anyone done the Mastering The Basics program? Worth it for a newbie like myself? If so, should I treat the rest days (seems like 3 a week on average) as true rest days or could I do simple low impact rides/cardio/strength?

I got my bike a few months ago and just did a few Advanced Beginner half hour rides to go through the different sequences and that seemed to be sufficient. My sister did that program though and enjoyed it. Probably depends a bit on your level of fitness, but it seems a bit much if you are moderately active prior to getting a Peloton.

I’m about 35 rides in and can handle most 45 minute rides as prescribed with cadence and resistance at this point.

I did the Cody Disney ride today. I rarely do 20 minute rides and haven’t done one in a while so I came in with the mentality I was going to try and PR.

Immediately my PR score jumps way out ahead of me and I can’t figure wtf is going wrong. I’m pushing decently hard and can’t even get close to it. About 2/3 of the way in I realize the 20 minute PR was my FTP test
