Rubber strap arrived, for the BP 43... now I won't ruin the leather in the summer heat. FYI, IWC did an incredible job engineering the quick-release system for the straps & deployment clasp. No tools needed & swapped out in less than 30 seconds.
Thanks. I've been wearing the hell out of it, even on the leather... IWC, Milgauss & Speedy on NATO have been the summer rotation
Looks like Grand Seiko just released a new spring drive with no PR indicator- the SLGA007. looks nice.
Should have put “Spring Drive” & “5 Day” on the case back, but otherwise huge step in the right direction.
One of those will likely be my next watch. I’m not sure there is a wrong answer if you choose between them. To help, what’s your current lineup? What are you looking for and how will it be used?
so if the people selling a second hand watch authenticate it but there is no box or or whatever that just means i'll have a harder time selling it later on?
All black Casioak and a simple Seiko skx007. This will be my first big watch purchase. I'm leaning slightly towards the BB58 as it seems more versatile to wear with a suit.
The Pelagos wears pretty large, and the BB58 wears smaller (or at least, more "traditionally" sized.) Definitely need to try them both on if you're an average-sized human, or if you fall onto one side of the size spectrum, just go with it. (Judgement free zone.)
Agreed. If it was going to be a casual watch or beach wear, I might say Pelagos. But BB58 seems more appropriate for what you’re wanting. Also more versatile with a leather strap.
If you buy the BB58, purchase it with the factory bracelet and get them to throw in the factory NATO strap no-charge (they did this for me when I bought the soft-touch leather strap which I really didn't like.) Alternatively, there seems to be a good deal of them hitting the secondary right now for ~$3,200...
Rolex Boxes are cheap. Papers matter the most for some reason- more assurance it isn’t stolen, etc. You’ll get less for non box non papers if you sell. That doesn’t bother me at all as I generally don’t buy to sell and I’m happy to pay less.
Typically yes. You also have to deal with a smaller potential buyer pool. Some guys want all the papers, tree rings, carbon data, etc about their watches.
Or, do what I did, and ask for a discount. When they say “No” try to buy it on the Nato (at a lower price) and ask for the bracelet for free.

Drew63 Depending on your ability to wait, you may want to see if they include the new clasp on the Bb58 soon. It just came out on the bronze version, but it similarly adjustable like the Sub clasp.
There’s some who see service papers from a Rolex center as being on-par with original papers too. It’s provenance is secure and worked on by in-house staff.
No. But the 36-month warranty and return gives you time to buy, get it authenticated and appraised, and still have time after 2 years to send for service at Rolex AND THEN get a refund if not real. So it works out OK.
gotcha so basically if i want to do that i should buy it and then take to official rolex dealer to further authenticate and appraise?
Watch is beautiful by the way. Saw a guy at lunch today with the same if not very similar piece. Love the colors - pops quite nicely on a sunny day.
I 100% want the all gold yachty but I also don’t want to spend $50,000 when I haven’t worn a watch since like elementary school
