I mean, no way you went into fostering this dog not knowing you were going to keep it. Beautiful pupper.
I actually did. He’s terrified of everything, every sound, and everyone. He’s gradually become less withdrawn and allowed my wife to pet him after two weeks of fostering. In the fourth week of fostering he finally played fetch with me. The rescue posted a new pic of him on Instagram with his foster progress notes and my wife saw it and broke down in tears. I knew at that point she couldn’t let him go.
Poor boy needs to cut some weight and you go drive around a el super taco, pretty shitty behavior by you
Any ideas on what to do for a picky eater? 6mo pup typically eats 2-3 meals per day (she’s 50lbs and usually eats 1-2 cups per meal), but near the end of an 18lb bag of food she only eats about 1 meal a day and only at the end of the day (presumably when she’s extra hungry from not eating all day). When I switch food brands, she goes back to 2-3 meals per day. At first, I thought it was food going stale in the bag, so got an air tight Vittles container. Worked for 2 bags of food, but she’s now back to barely eating once a day, so I’m starting to think she is just picky and gets tired of the same food. Can’t blame her, but also can’t keep seeking out different food brands every 2 weeks. Wife bought a 33lb bag of food the other day, and right after opening it the pup “lost her appetite”
My dog is the same. Just gets tired of the same thing. We'll drizzle some low sodium chicken stock on the food at the end of the bag and then get a different flavor, but same brand, for the next bag. We basically just circle between three flavors.
isn’t that way too salty for dogs? i would just try to get some beef, chicken, pork whatever and cook it without salt and mix it with his usual food. Way more healthy and he will still get the taste that a dog likes i used to do this and It worked like a charm.
Living through a disaster right now. The bff's dog is an escape artist and so has a Fi gps collar. She's an old boxer. She got out today and wandered around the Wichita mountain wilderness around the house. Then she crossed the highway and went onto fort sill. Her gps collar died a few minutes ago and she is in the active heavy bombardment missile zone. We know exactly where she is, spoke to the Maps but the zone is zoned no people ever. The only thing that can go through there is full armored vehicle. She's so close but we can't get her. Can see that she found water at least but we can see the flares dropping for targeting.
Close enough that the first day we moved in I was trying to figure out what kid was playing call of duty connected to big speakers. Then realized it must be the base. #americanprivelage. She's about 4 miles south of the house now. That ridge line makes a sound barrier and I've never heard the artillery just lots of small arms fire. In the first picture you can see medicine park which is our town.
Nothing. We engaged local police and the mountain biking group. All we found so far is a massive rattlesnake. Been thunderstorms on and off so she has water but it's hard because it's not like there are roads and we can't hike the ridge lines. All we can really hope for is that she meanders back to town or to a manned part of the base. Side note, it was very easy to get a pass to get on the base and now I'm allowed to play at their best in area golf course.
Our newest foster pup, Zoey. 8-year-old something mix, probably dachshund and wire-haired terrier. Been with Pixel for three months, when we first got her she wouldn't let the foster near her for 4 days, was super aggressive and growling constantly, but was really happy after that. Second foster was about 2 days same pattern. She spent a month at board & train, then came to us. She bit me the moment I met her, about 18 hours after she got here I was able to walk her, we've been best friends ever since. Seriously one of the sweetest dogs I've ever been around, she's going to be a tough adopt though because she hates strangers and needs that time to warm up to her people. If she didn't want to eat our cats I'd seriously consider keeping her.
I understand the stomping around in the shit water by cattle tank, but don’t see the appeal in dunking his entire head in said shit water.
Not sure. He's due for a checkup next month. Thinking probably 140 by now, maybe a little more. He's almost 18 months now. Not sure if it's better/more food or just growing up but he's really filled out.
I've read 160-180. He seemed to be a little under weight when we got him so not sure if that will keep his fully mature size lower or not. He's healthy and happy now though.
Think it's a sensory thing for Dierks. He does it in shallow water at my cabin as well. Just generally enjoys being in the water in whatever way.
This is Louie or Lou dog. Saved him about three months ago after we lost our American bulldog William (or Bill the butcher or inspector)
