I have and it’s quite a tame experience. Not my favorite thing but less screaming is always better for me personally.
I heard it was super different but I haven’t listened yet. I didn’t love their last one either though tbh. they were fun live though
Looks like roughly a 50/50 outdoor/indoor split with them. Two of their outdoor shows were supposed to be with Nine Inch Nails who had already cancelled so imagine that pushed them in that direction.
really pumped for this. 'one time villain' is legit probably one of my favorite songs of the last few years
I’m very indifferent about that genre. But only in the context of the most famous stomp clap hey band once singing “The opposite of love is indifference”
Been waiting for this album to drop, was supposed to have been released last October but got held up for reasons. I actually got the chance to give it a few listens at the time though and if it had come out it would've been my album of the year, some stiffer competition this year but it's a contender at the very least for '21 The Mask of the Phantasm - New Axial Age
yyyyyyyyeah I'm pretty comfortable putting this on top for '21 now too, just strikes too many chords with me and every damn song open hand hits
is there a best album of 2021 so far thread? not sure what mine would be, but I always like seeing everyone elses
its been a very odd year for my music listening habits, so Im mostly interested to see if its just me or if is everyone else as well.
Some of my favorite releases from 2021 (non Metal/Industrial/etc) would probably be: Devendra Banhart/Noah Georgeson “Refuge” King Dude “Beware Darkness” Celeste & August Rosenbaum “s/t” Senso “Drifter 94” Croatian Amor & Varg “Body of Content” VR SEX “Cyber Crimes” Of the wand & the moon “Whispers of the Past” Frederik Valentin “0011000/001101”
it's been a strong quality over quantity year for me so far, which was nice following a 2020 where nothing really grabbed too hard
yeah for sure. for reference most years I have roughly around 100 or so albums that I genuinely enjoy/listen/work list from from that year. this year its around 40 so far
here I was looking through my '21 playlist and thinking these 5 albums that truly excite me were a hefty total anyway these are the jams I enjoy front to back so far, no order for the most part : The Mask of the Phantasm - New Axial Age Black Country, New Road - For the First Time The Armed - Ultrapop Black Midi - Cavalcade Squid - Bright Green Field
but now listening to this Squid album again has me out here reconsidering things gonna be a fun fall of '21 I tell ya what
fun album that came out yesterday. not really sure what to categorize it as, kind of like vetiver meets mgmt meets starfucker? I dont know, Im not a doctor
