Been thinking about next year. After the service time date Pratto and Bob have to be on the squad. So we have the options of Bobby, Pratto, Santana, Dozier, Mondi, Lopez, Whit, Alberto, Rivera. Do we think Lopez will ever repeat this years production? If his trade value is highest right now should we be taking calls this off-season? The other dilemma is what Melendez is doing, Flanny is preaching every day we need to move him.
Lopez hit fine enough in the minors, I don’t think this year is a total aberration. Whit is on the decline and you can’t trust Mondi so Lopez has some value on this squad. Melendez, well, Salvy is a big dude who plays every day. When his decline arrives, it will be quick.
Yeah, I think I'd prefer to hang onto Lopez as a solid utility guy and insurance for any injury on the IF. I don't think teams are willing to give up a premium prospect for someone like Lopez. He's had a heck of a season and is on pace for like a 3.5-4.0 bWAR season. Kudos to anyone that had that in their preseason predictions.
All 3 now have gone up a level and continued raking. Hell, I heard yesterday that Bobby’s SO rate has dropped and Barrel rate has increased since jumping to AAA.
I don’t want any of them to come up ever. Just dominate AAA and give me hope instead of coming to KC and filling me with disappointment.
I don’t know what the plan will be with Melendez. They broke the bank for Salvy. Pratto has 1st on lock. Who of Salvy/Pratto/MJ is the DH? Also, they signed Dozier to some bank…but he doesn’t have a place at 3rd if (big if) RMJ is healthy. C/1B/DH: Salvy, Pratto, MJ, Carlos 2B, SS, 3B, RF: Whit, Bob, Nicky, RMJ, Dozeir How do you balance that next year?
