That explains some of it. But take the coughing maskless kid, for example. My son’s school has testing kits available. All the teacher had to do was send him down to the school nurse for a test (of course with the parent’s consent, which likely would have been a problem in this case), and they would have determined whether he had Covid. But the teacher didn’t send him and so nobody “officially” knows if he was positive, but let’s not kid ourselves here.

thats so fucking dumb, the anti vax aren’t going to vax their kids. Meanwhile my wife had to take off today bc last night my daughter who can’t get vaccine had some bad allergies and we were afraid she had covid and didn’t want to potentially spread it

Luckily no covid but got to pay for doctors visit to tell us to give her otc meds (which we were already doing)

 

I understand his point since there are people who have taken the vaccine are more hesitant for their children to be vaccinated, but if that is the main reason WHY they decided they needed Pfizer to enroll more kids and delay this a couple more months then these people absolutely do not have any connection to the real world.

Lots of people are going to be infected, or have already infected, by kids (who generally don't get that sick) that will end up dying or at the very least make this fucking wave last so much longer than it needed to be. It's all water under the bridge right now though in the South, most schools have started back and so many kids have already gotten infected, this needed to be approved before the start of the school year.

oh, he's definitely getting the 1st dose as his birthday present, no matter what is available. I'm just curious about the timeline for Moderna for 12-17... as they applied for it 2 months ago.

 

My fully vaccinated 14 year old daughter got nauseous on the way to school yesterday. Not a typical Covid symptom and she sometimes gets car sick so I thought nothing of it. Towards the end of her school day her nose started dripping like a faucet and she felt exhausted. She was clearly in discomfort. So I told her I would do a home Covid test on her when I got home from running my son around to his activities. I got home at 9:30 and she was already passed out in her bed, and since my wife and I just assumed she caught a breakthrough case because of the assholes at her school we were planning to keep her home today anyway and I put off testing her until this morning. The test was negative (yay!) but we kept her home anyway because even assuming that’s accurate I wouldn’t want her giving any other kid a bad head cold. I fucking hate how we need to live in constant vigilance over this goddamn virus because too many people are fucking stupid.

Not a parent, so I know that’s different, but I’m just taking the proper precautions and proceeding without any assumptions that I’ll never get sick again

At this point it's not even clear if we're going to get them five, six months or, eight months out let alone whether you can get a different vaccine.

i am 6 months out so glad they're still dicking around and changing up the recs for when to get #3

 

I'm of the mind at this point that by the end of September or early October to just go ahead and overstate your eligibility status and get one, the vaccines being delayed for kids has me pissed off that at least we should prevent adults vaccinated adults from possibly helping spread this in the future. It's way too late at this point in our states to tamp down this wave even if they recommended everyone get their next shot tomorrow.

I know one person that was on a vent forever and then on the ERCO or whatever comes after the vent that survived. He caught covid before there were vaccines available but he would have gotten one. 93 days in the hospital.
