There’s been nothing to suggest that. Real are greedy but the Bosman will also cost them much more in Mini/player fees and salary
the way he left them? Absolutely. He went behind their back and orchestrated a move away within the division and then conspired with Barca, lying to atletico every step of the way, to run out the clock on his release clause going down and then bolted. I suppose he may have taken a wage cut but his wages are also absolutely insane for a club like atletico. Their finances aren’t Barca bad but they aren’t good.
or the Real Madrid offers weren’t real offers and it was all a publicity stunt by Real Madrid to further tap up mbappe. That was always the smart strategy for them.
I’m rolling with some Joffrey level Qatari assholes thinking they’re saving face by not selling to Real. they’re still going to be some of the richest people on earth even after losing 200 mil for a house basketball trophy they’d win without Mbappe
nobody's arguing that his a fucking douchebag, but he's also one of the best 25-30 players on the planet
Breaking News: the Bartomeu era was an out-and-out disaster. I know, shocking, but we should definitely re-hash it more with the moves the club has made the past 5 years
I love the confidence but if his leaving was such a slam dunk Real doesn’t make multiple $200M+ offers. He was offered €45M net just yesterday. The pressure he’s gonna be under the next 9 months will be off the charts.
Are there moves that we have forgotten to mention? Oh, when coutinho came on to score a late brace against barca in the champions league
Ok. You’re in the prime of a 10-14 year career and you have a chance at a once in a lifetime payday OR you can sign a contract that restricts that freedom 9 months out. What do you do?
There’s nothing stopping him from resigning with them in Jan/Feb. but he has absolutely no incentive to sign before seeing what other clubs will pay.
I get what you're saying but this isn't a team that operates with any kind of budget. they literally have endless money to offer him. if money is the only factor he should probably stay there. moving on would be more about going to a real league to play for real trophies and establish your legacy against the best.
Based on his reaction to Messi joining, there has to be something more for him that matters outside of winning at PSG. Rationalizing why those things shouldn't matter won't change that for him. He will get the money in either place, although he should get more exposure at Real. He seems to want to be the guy. Let's see what happens if they win the CL (which may already be too late if he signs a pre-contract), but it just seems to me that he already has his mind set on going to Real, and it seems like one of those "dream move" type of things.
Yeah I think you’ve got it backwards. If his major concern is “a once in a lifetime payday” he’s 1000% staying in Paris because they’ll legit offer him twice as much as anyone else. Without a doubt. He just turned down ~€90M gross. He’ll still earn a fuck ton outside of Paris but it won’t be anywhere near what they’ll offer. Like Zeb said, if he leaves it’s to play at a historically major club and win meaningful trophies. It’s foolish to just ignore the fact that he’s a French superstar, the face of the national team for a decade to come playing in the French capital heading into a World Cup year. The pressure to resign goes far beyond just financial reasons without even getting into the Qatari efforts to sportswash their image.
I think if we’ve learned anything this window it’s that the game is in a super healthy place and putting more Qatari’s in influential possessions within UEFA is great for it’s future.
My Neymar hatred trumps all else. That said, I still think they struggle in deeper stages of UCL with a weekly schedule of playing the Washington Generals throughout the year.
They really gonna lose another top player on a free? Why are they letting contracts run down like this?
this would make it 3 of their top 5 players leaving on free within 12 months. I can’t remember any team losing that many key players for free in that short a period.
Well you can add Ramsey to that list. I also think Alexis should be highly considered as well. They ended up with Mkhitaryan who we ultimately paid to go away. So basically we paid for Alexis to leave, at the height of his value. Remarkable stuff.
Was going to bring him up, just trying to stay authentic and add in frees. I kept looking and started to get pissed off so I stopped.
Hakan wasn’t a top player on that team. He was largely hated because he was shit. Gigi was a massive fuck up. They can’t allow Kessie to walk for free. Sell his ass in January if he doesn’t resign at that point.
Shit like this is why Real made the offers they did for Mbappé with 1 year left on his contract. I can only imagine what he’s going to be hearing from them over the next 4 months
You’re looking for something that wasn’t there my guy. I don’t care that that PSG is doing that. City is no better than PSG and I don’t pretend they are. I posted that because there were people that didn’t believe the Real offer was actually made or that PSG want going to make Mbappé a larger offer than Real.
At least we can all agree that it’s good UEFA is focusing on the real issues impacting the game and not silly financial matters like this
Sign some “sponsorship” deal with Marley family…problem solved problem staying solved Freak lead the way
Boy, that sure isn't helpful to Juventus after getting one point in their first three games. Doesn't exactly make me want to run out and pay Raiola £20m for the privilege of signing Haaland either.
It's genuinely impressive how half the globe could do the bigtime agents' jobs of creating bs through the media for that sweet agent transfer fee.
I haven't a clue why soccer players haven't figured out that agents like Raiola don't add value to what they can make. American sports agencies, don't have the contacts in soccer yet, but their agent commissions are like 2-5% for the deal, and obviously higher for endorsements they secure. Shouts to Kevin De Bruyne negotiating his contract with Man City himself.
