I wouldn't want him coaching at my school. From my view the dude turned Tayshaun and Rip into petulant, whining coach killers.
So that's 16 guaranteed deals, plus a couple 2-way deals. PG - Hayes, Joseph, Lee SG - Cunningham, Diallo, Jackson, McGruder SF - Bey, Jackson, Smith (2-way) PF - Grant, Doumboya, Lyles, Livers C - Stewart, Olynyk, Okafor, Garza (2-way) We have to drop at least one of the roster. I'm guessing that will be Okafor or McGruder unless they either get some for Sekou via trade, or he's so bad in camp they just dump him for nothing.
They're going to dump Sekou for what will seem an absurdly low price, like a couple 2nd rounders in 2024 or 25, and Edwards will immediately tweet how it was a genius move getting anything for him before he has zero trade value
Yeah but realistically it has to be him, Jackson, or okafor or we eat a guaranteed contract that was just signed
Okafor has no present or potential value, so it should be an easy decision. Hard to believe he's only 25.
This deal is great because it frees up space to keep Pickett and Garza (or other training camp invitee) on the roster But also we don’t need to try to spend on next years free agents
Detroit is paying Jordan $16m of the remaining $20m he's owed in the buyout. Not sure yet if they're stretching that over 5 years, or just eating it the next two. I'm hoping they eat it, but Edwards suggested they'd stretch it.
I know it’s mostly about the roster spots, but we should be using that money next year to eat the deal. We don’t need to be chasing Kyrie or whoever else might be out there.
Love this from the Athletic mailbag this morning: That quietude extends to Detroit. The Pistons have completed their offseason signings and the only lingering question is who gets moved to get the roster to 15. That, though, doesn’t need to be decided for some time. It wouldn’t surprise me if Detroit doesn’t make that decision until October.
