Hahaha they fitted Bottas with softs and then explicitly said “don’t go for fastest lap.” Bottas: “why not?”
Looool he went purple purple in the first two sectors and they said “abort abort!” And he went fastest! I’m fucking dying.
Ham recovers the fastest lap point with his final lap after pitting on the 70th or 71st lap. Fucking funny nonetheless.
Lol damn, Max almost got champagne-boarded by the Mercedes drivers on the podium, struggled to clear his mask of the liquid.
Hot (medium?) take - This mega title fight everyone is talking about would be nonexistent if Max wasn’t massively unlikely at Baku, Silverstone, and Hungary. He’d be running away with the title. Max and Red Bull have been clear of Lewis and Mercedes for most of the year.
Looking forward to Monza for a couple of reasons. 1) Mercedes may still have the slight straight line speed advantage that could give Lewis the edge for pole. 2) Ferrari is brining an engine upgrade they are extremely excited about and think could go a long way to close the gap to those out front. They also got very creative on how they got to make this upgrade. So if it results in the upgrade they feel I can’t wait to see the pit lane file complaint after complaint. 3) seems like Bottas to Alpha Romero is a done deal. Russell to Mercedes. Not sure who Alpha will also remove Gio (I think he’s earned the seat) but we will find out very soon. My guess is after Monza as they wouldn’t want to drop that news if bad in Italy like that.
Just want to say that this mini F1 community we have here is nice. It’s a great palette cleanser after the shit you see on F1 Twitter/ Instagram/YouTube
I tend to agree here and the recent speed traps show that to be true, but the Red Bull was just as fast and often faster at power circuits like Paul Ricard, Baku, and Silver Stone. I’m betting RB’s low down force aero package will keep things very tight. Also I believe at least one of the Mercs have used a small wing for some races this year knowning they can’t keep up in the corners.
It does stink that this Dutch track really doesn’t allow for passing. Hopefully the new car design next year may allow some. It’s such a cool track with the banking and elevation changes.
Toto said he wants to block it as he doesn’t want a RB driver on one of his customer teams. (This would allow Albon to report back stuff about the Merc engine)
Merc (and George) are also lobbying for De Vries to get the Willams seat don’t be shocked if Italian Jesus is out of a ride and Albon paired with Bottas next year
Excuse me but Italian Jesus put an Alpha Romero on the 4th row without the aid of weather. If King George did that in a Williams a portion of this thread would be claiming him to be the next god of F1. So can my dude have a week of praise before your kicking him out of a ride.
Albon sucks... I really don't understand this drama around him getting a seat. He's so bad that Redbull who controls 4 seats in F1 refuses to give him a ride in any of them. I rather see De Vires or Illiot at this point given a chance.
I like Giovinazzi solely because everything about him including his name and appearance just screams F1 driver more than any other driver. I mean look at this man.
oh, I meant he is a traditional looking F1 driver, while you have the twitch gang like Lando, George, Charles
I'm loving Nico going in raw on Toto in the postrace interviews. Basically, "WTF Toto, that was so dumb."
Driver lineups filling up quickly this year AlphaTauri retains Gasly and Tsunoda for F1 2022 https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/a...campaign=RSS-ALL&utm_term=News&utm_content=uk
Think its obvious that stroll stays at AM, and Vettel is supposedly on a multi year contract. Latifi should be a lock for Williams. Haas will probably stay the same as well. Only big questions are the second seats at AR and Williams.
Surprised AT locked in TSU this early. He's been way off the pace from Gasly and I figured he was partially picked because of the Honda connection for this season.
Their whole 2021 plan was to prepare for 2022 IIRC, so I imagine they’ll give the new regulations a go
Pretty sure they said they have devoted all time and efforts to their car for '22 and they had thrown in the towel on '21 before it even started. I think they'll race next year but if they have no improved results I'm not sure why they'd keep going
