Not yet, but the closest lakes to me both have Walleye (my favorite for eating). Need to do some shopping though since I only have fly rods now.
I have twins and we had two seats and then four bases. After they got older swapped to four car seats. Welcome to the game! You and the wife will have a great time but it will be hectic as fuck. For reference, I have a Tacoma and the wife has an Odyssey(but we have four kids total so we absolutely needed more space).
Thanks man. Which car seat did you go with right out of the gate...that is, assuming you recommend it. This is how I imagine having kids would be. Spoiler
We are about to have our fourth and we wanted to get a new one so went with the Graco Snugride after some research. Another member sent me these Consumer Report reviews a couple weeks ago (spoilered for size) Spoiler
I have an uppababy mesa and love it. Chose it basically because I wanted the stroller. Shit is expensive but don't regret it a bit.
Yeah man, its fun for sure. Can't recall what we did honestly, they're six now. I think we based it on ergonomics to minimize how much space was taken. THose damn seats can be huge! We did not go with one that works with a separate stroller system because those too were huge. We lucked out and found a premium inline double stroller at a consignment store as well. Those to me are the best. Looking for the model because it worked out great and highly recommend. Light weight and easily stored. I'm more of a pragmatist and would prefer function over brand.
I haven't bought a stroller in a couple years but wanting a double limited the options a bit. I don't have twins but planned on having my second soon. Ended up being exactly 2 years apart.
OK, so I found the brand and its Phil and Ted. Here's a link to what we had. Loved it and one of the better purchases we made. As an aside, if these are your first, there's not a damn thing wrong buying shit on consignment. I ignorantly wanted to buy all new shit(I realize this is a contradiction to being a pragmatist but I also like to spend money unfortunately) and luckily for me my wife is frugal and convinced me there's some good used(or very lightly used) shit out there. https://us.philandteds.com/products/dot-double-kit
https://www.target.com/p/graco-simp...Cz6RTEQEA1qyOHam6PxoCo28QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds My son loved this one. We got it as a gift but it’s only $65. I’m betting it’s the same one mentioned above for the same price.
We were lucky and got to borrow one from a friend and I second this, it was clutch in getting our youngest to sleep when nothing else worked
I swear by a Snoo. We just rented one but my sil bought one so if we have another we can just use it. Thing is great. My brother got one as well and love it.
Haven’t seen any black prairie red wings posted but that leather looks great once it starts breaking in.
Mine is fine in the momaroo, but we only turn on the movement about half the time. Team snoo for life though
I didn’t use dock a tot but we essential got a routine and stuck with it. When we started at about 12 weeks old we did the following Bottle, story, swaddle out him down awake. Check on him after 5 minutes with soothing voice and no touching and walkout The repeat after 10 minutes. And then every 15 minutes until asleep. After about 4 days of hell he learned and we have a 12 hour sleeper still and he is almost 2. Only when he has been sick as he really woke up and needed soothing.
My suggestion is to get four infant carriers, two for your vehicle and two for your wife’s. That’s what we did (didn’t have twins, but got complete sets for both vehicles for one kid). Guess I should note we typically traded off who dropped off versus picked up from daycare/school on a daily basis, so the convenience of never worrying about whether or not someone forgot to drop off the carrier was worth it. Plus once you move past the infant phase and into the toddler seats, trading them out of the vehicle daily becomes impractical anyway. I think someone posted earlier that you can spend as much as you want for aesthetics on a car seat (infant, toddler, and booster) and buy some of the designer brands, but they’re all government tested and do the job. We have had Chicco and Britax; both have been fine. Never been in an accident where they were needed, however. Our philosophy was to buy major brand car seats that were on the upper end of their product lines, but were on sale/clearance. There’s always something on sale on Amazon or major retailers. Black Friday is a good option if your wife isn’t due before then. We didn’t care to much about looking the same or fitting an ecosystem, but some people want that. Our kids are almost 6 and 4, but we did the Chicco Keyfit 30 infant carriers and bases for both kids. Not sure if that line has been replaced by something else since then.
Team Snoo. Already looking forward to selling all of this expensive baby shit - Snoo, 2 Uppababy strollers, 2 uppababy car seats, outfits for almost every day of the year, etc
I really lucked out in having a second boy as far as this goes. Saved a ton of clothes from #1 and Target and the likes just don't make as much boy stuff as girls. If it was a girl easily would have already spent thousands more on clothes.
My wife is making a killing slinging baby clothes on a resale app. Sells toys and everything. I don’t know what it’s called but she’s made like $400 so far. It’s called Mercari
we used this stroller with our twins, and our oldest thought it was great when she was old enough to ride on the skateboard thing.
We are same, I have a 4/2/1 year old - all have used the Chicco Keyfit 30s. My bigger kids now have Britax Clicktight Boulevards. My sister and her family have the same Britax seats and were in an accident (nearly head on, Honda Odyssey totaled) a few months back and all the seats performed admirably FWIW. I don't think you necessarily need four carriers, but you definitely need four bases. A good double stroller will be pretty clutch once they're out of the infant seats and can sit up. The shitty cheap ones that the bases click into are more than adequate while they are in the infant carrier, IMO. We have a side by side Maclaren that we bought used (also I'd recommend this, buying used) that has been nice. Also have the Uppa Baby where the baby can ride at top, bigger kid at bottom... and a Citi GT double or something, but that thing is huge/wide.
